Human workflows are like fingerprints: no two are exactly alike, even though they often have a lot in common. Every tool proposes a workflow pattern that you can either adapt to your own way of working—or not.
In my opinion, the best approach is to choose a tool whose workflow has the greatest amount of common ground with your own, while also being flexible enough to adapt to your personal patterns.
I'm working on my own take on this: Pulsar. However, it's a tool (intended) for power programming, which I don't think is what you do. I see you more as an explorer than a builder (or perhaps implementer?), to borrow gaming theory terms. That's what I try to be, anyway. 😉
I presented the first iteration of it at
#ESUG2026, but since I went straight into the holiday season afterwards, I haven't had time to write about it yet. I do have a half-finished blog post, though, so I'll see if I can get it out it soon.
