This whole time, I thought changing the world was something you did, an act you performed, something you fought for. I don't know if that's true anymore. What if changing the world was just about being here, by showing up no matter how many times we get told we don't belong, by staying true even when we're shamed into being false, by being true to ourselves even when we're told we're too different. And if we all held onto that, if we refuse to budge and fall in line, if we stood our ground for long enough, just maybe... The world can't help but change around us.

@tinker@infosec.exchange @JeroenBaten@mastodon.nl @troed@swecyb.com I still think that's an oversimplification and is why different providers on different jurisdictions exist to name one thing, but I guess people who have to know already know and picked their tools with care.

@tinker@infosec.exchange @JeroenBaten@mastodon.nl @troed@swecyb.com You know I actually agree with 95% of what you're saying and people shouldn't use anything just because it says "private" or "secure" on them, but for such a bold intro as “All VPNs are honeypots,” you've really had to work hard to justify it in this thread. That sounds more like a headline from some mediocre tabloid.
Honeypots by whom even? The feds? The advertising industry? If it was the latter I'm confused why you still tell people there are good use cases in this thread. If it's the first I doubt that 99% of users are even worth it to blow the cover of a long-established VPN provider or that those logs are even interesting to them. Unless your post was meant for the really questionable 1%.

Completely opt-in, you have full control, and if you try it and find it’s not for you, you can choose to switch it off.Did anyone here even read the article or do people just like to be mad (especially if AI is the trigger word)?

- "you can choose to switch it off" is not "opt-in". That's really "opt-out". And defaults really, really matter.I don't know how the quote was unclear.
- Opt-in
- Try out
- Switch off again if you don't like it2. It's less the "AI" story and much more that they seem unable/unwilling to listen to their user base. It's the tone-deaf responses from a management cohort that get their money from AI-invested corporates.Maybe, but Firefox is not a little git project. From a business perspective, it is entirely understandable to want to satisfy a broad user group. Keep up with the times or time will pass you by. The smallest user group usually makes its voice heard the loudest.

If you're having some domains lying around that are not in productive use you'll probably want to configure this.
