I love love LOVE science fiction. My favourite setting is where all software is automatically superior, stringent, solid, and all-around perfect because it was manually written by humans

> What’s happening across Sub-Saharan Africa right now is the most ambitious infrastructure project in human history, except it’s not being built by governments or utilities or World Bank consortiums. It’s being built by startups selling #solar panels to farmers on payment plans. And it’s working.
>
> […] 400,000 new solar installations every month across Africa. 50% market share captured by companies that didn’t exist 15 years ago. Carbon credits subsidizing the cost.

Imagine him keeling over dead TODAY. Heat stroke, falls on his face, farts one last time, ded.
People all around the World would fukken celebrate, I assure you
Anyways, that's my American Dream.
Just walked back home from the store, and let me tell you, outside it's hotter than Shakira ca. 2008
Fucking hell, fam
#ProductHunt is a *fantastic way* to get involuntarily noticed by a thousand different hustlers and signed up to their newsletters.
(I don't think PH itself is at fault but I guess they get scraped a lot.)
RE: @gerrymcgovern@mastodon.green
Counter argument:
Literally yesterday I was working on a sqlite3-based experiment with Opus 4.6. Initial SQL queries were successful but Claude looked at the timing, mentioned that 1s is way too much for a query like this, spent 10 more seconds on the code, and then the (complex) query only took 0.02s.
Sorry if that doesn't fit the very simplistic "all AI bad" narrative but as with any tool, it depends on what you do with it and how you use it.

Updated the Listening Post website. Shit's getting real, y'all 😅
"That's not who we are" can be correct on a personal or hyper-local level — but as a nation, to most of us looking in from the outside, that's definitely very much who you are.
Not meant as a diss, just an observation.
@ricobeck@mastodon.social Yes. But that's what a lot of "AI IS BAD AND STUPID" people conveniently leave out; maybe they don't understand, maybe they do but choose to ignore it, I don't know. It's an *entirely* new piece of kit, a *wholly* new kind of tool. There's nuance.
If people don't want to see that or acknowledge that, it says more about them than about the technology.
Humans…
Do I know anybody who participated in BundleHunt as a developer, with their own apps?
I was invited to join one of the next rounds, and I wonder whether that's a good idea or not. What were your experiences, would you do it again?
The #BluePrince OST is as chill as they come. Good for focus work!

That Cyberpunk 2077, eh. Is pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good.
(No spoilers please, first playthrough.)

> EVs are starting to chip away at one of the global economy’s biggest vulnerabilities: oil.
>
> A new analysis from #energy think tank Ember finds that the global EV fleet avoided 1.7 million barrels per day of #oil consumption in 2025. It’s getting close to the roughly 2.4 million barrels per day, or 70%, of what Iran exports through the Strait of Hormuz.

It's fine to just admit you're terrible at humor. You don't have to prove it. It's fine.
It's fine.
"This is the chilliest summer for the rest of your life" is quickly becoming the new "Die Hard is a Christmas movies, you guys"
Had major issues with #ClaudeCode for weeks, with mouse positions not registering correctly, semi-auto scrolling, weird selecting etc.
Turns out it was #Ghostty. No issues in either Terminal or #iTerm2.
Back to iTerm2, then.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the verdict is in: This is the best orange marmalade.

I will not be taking any questions at this time.
Started working on Euro localization for BarCuts. German first (for obvious reasons), followed by Italian, French, Spanish, & Polish.
Been postponing l10n for a while, but it's time. Had an interesting clanker-related idea to achieve good quality, we'll see.
#Xcode, the perfect IDE for people who are already highly proficient in Xcode
It's good once you got the hang of it but it's so fukken opaque in some regards. Dependency tree can't be built? You can get to the root of that using the CLI but you're not told that. Xcode doesn't surface it. Half-baked
Desktop PWA support is still … man, I don't know.
- Chrome-based browsers: support tabs, but I can't get deeplinks to work 👎🏼
- Vivaldi: no tab support, in the past swallowed `alert()`, `prompt()` etc. whole 😬
- Safari: no tabs 🤷🏻♂️
- Firefox: I'm too lazy to search for an emoji to express my feelings regarding the sorry state of Firefox on macOS (no scripting support, generally a black box, no PWA, …)
