I really love a rainy hike through a moss-covered forest. This type of environment is best when it’s damp. This trail in Taiping Shan, Datong Township, Yilan, follows the path of an old, narrow-gauge railway that was built to haul timber. #hiking #Mosstodon #Taiwan

@davidonformosa@mstdn.social Oh, man, that's exactly what I've been looking for! I love hiking in Taiwan, but compared to Colorado, solitude can be a little hard to come by. 😎

@jensorensen@mastodon.social Oh man I got in a big fight about this cartoon on lemmy because they were all like, “Well ackshully, there’s still a middleman if you buy print media, stationery and flip phone,” and I was all like, “I don’t think they mean that kind of middleman; have you ever had a page in a paper book ask if you want an AI plot summary, or a ball point pen make you subscribe to ink to continue writing.” They still didn’t get it. I guess every comic has to pass a literal correct test over there.

@QasimRashid@mastodon.social It reminds me of the people who, when I mention that my wife’s family is from Taiwan, respond along the lines of “oh, I love Thai food, do you speak Thai?”

@TimMaddog@mstdn.social Jesus Christ. I just thought it was a pretty horse lantern with some Taiwan landmarks. Didn’t even notice the Shanghai 2026 tie-in. I’m going to have to be more careful. I certainly wasn’t trying to promote any kind of unification agenda. Sorry.

@cmconseils@mastodon.social The funniest thing that happened the whole time I had an Amazon Echo was when there was a contestant named Alexa on Jeopardy! Every time the host called on her, Alexa would pipe in, “Hmm, I’m afraid I don’t know that one.”

@davidnjoku@mastodon.world @MarvinFreeman@mastodon.online Not sure. I couldn’t find a sign about this installation. But it’s near the restored remains of the Seoul city wall where a stream ran through a tunnel in the wall, so I was hypothesizing that it might be representing drops of water.

@NickEast_IndieWriter Foundation, hands down. I never read the additional volumes that came out in the 1980s, but the original trilogy sparked my imagination like nothing else.

@flargh I was ostracized by my accounting class for supporting Dukakis. The teacher (why in an accounting class is lost to the sands of time) decided to hold a straw poll by having us write down who we supported, and pass the paper up front. He then divided the votes into two piles, most all going into the Bush pile. I had been taking notes on a yellow legal pad. The rest of the votes were on white paper.😂 when my yellow paper dropped into the tiny Dukakis pile, I got snickering and icy stares.

@rail_@bark.lgbt @the_wiggler@mastodon.social Oh god this is horrible. I’m straight but jeez, we don’t need a flag. It reminds me of “men’s lib” absurdity from the 70s. But if we did need a flag I wouldn’t want one that ugly.

@mimsical@mastodon.social @parkermolloy@masto.ai I had no interest in Barbie whatsoever. (Nothin against it; just not my thing) but after seeing how much it upset Ben Shapiro, I’m definitely going!

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange @rbreich@masto.ai I don’t mean the average employee of the company. Yeah that would be way too easy to maneuver around. I mean that average worker overall. Apply some game theory to those ghouls.

@rbreich@masto.ai I always thought the corporate tax rate should be based on the ratio of the company’s executive compensation to the earnings of the average worker. The higher the ratio, the higher the tax rate.

@Manigarm@mastodon.social It’s like saying that crowbars are breaking into houses.
