Easily one of the best, insightful, and non-clickbait-y reviews of the #SteamMachine I’ve seen. I’ve been only using a #SteamDeck for almost two years, and though pricey I think I’ll end up getting a SM as well; I don’t need cutting edge, it’s a big step up from what I have, the experience is fantastic, and the form factor solves real needs for my situation. #VideoGames https://aftermath.site/steam-machine-review-price/

If you haven’t checked out @couchapp@mastodon.social in a while, you should! It’s continued to get better and better over time and is a solid full-featured #ReadLater solution for #Apple devices. I’ve been bouncing around solutions and think this is where I’m going to store my stuff. https://couchreader.app/features #indieApps #apps
Played my first full game of #HEXploreIt Vol. 5: Mountains of Godai last night! Went easy mode with a hexclusive role and race on the normal difficulty. Took about half the game until I felt the game began to flow smoothly, but once I got there it was enjoyable. It feels very different than the other volumes and will take a bit to get used to the sheer quantity of things that need to be tracked. The photos are mid-game and end game when I defeated Jaethi.
I did struggle with the siege phase a bit in Siege 2 & 3 for the same reasons I struggled with The Circle Undone campaign for the Arkham Horror card game: I’m terrible at keeping track of passive effects. I had lots of checking and re-checking what the effects were, how they scaled, and what they meant. (1/2)
I recently moved over to #Booklore for my book library and love its excellent Kobo sync, but watching its development I have a newfound understanding of the abuse open source maintainers have to put up with. How some people can act so entitled over a piece of free software is beyond me. #reading #OpenSource
My only #steammachine thought of the day: if indeed it's just the #steamcontroller going up for sale next week, they need to also give a date for the Machine and whether there's going to be a bundle offer; I do want one of the controllers, but there's no way I'm ordering one if I can bundle it with the Machine. #steam
Great news. Koepke’s style fits in really well on the Jets and they’ll be happy to have him in their lineup. I really liked watching him on the ice in the last couple months. #WinnipegJets #GoJetsGo @illegalcurve@threads.net @illegalcurve@www.threads.com
I rated it ★★★☆☆ (3/5); enjoyed the setup, cringed at some of the character writing. @buffaloseven@bookwyrm.social https://bookwyrm.social/user/buffaloseven/comment/10565881

This! Please! Having used macOS for decades, I have Spotlight issues on my iPad and I'm certain it has to do with DB issues. On a Mac I'd just rebuild it, problem solved. Nothing going on an iPad, and the disruption to reset it currently simply isn't worth it.

I’m guessing it’s because many Canadian Conservatives would like a leader that has a hope in hell at winning a federal election, but I could be wrong.
Calling a tripping penalty and an embellishment penalty at the same time seems pretty oxymoronical to me...did he trip him or not? We're now grading how the fall happens on a valid penalty?

I was going to actually write a little bit about this, but I’ve landed on the exact same setup since 26.4 and love it.

This is a great article that picks a single topic and succinctly highlights the corrosive effect of unbridaled capitalism on our economy.

With the recent performance improvements to @couchapp@mastodon.social and the addition of browser extensions to save articles to it (great for my non-Apple devices), it's become my primary read-later app. The Pro unlock is reasonably priced and introduces most of the features you would want in this kind of app. It's also actively developed, it's a great iOS citizen with good Shortcuts support and Spotlight indexing, and its developers have been responsive to requests in the past.
Highly recommend checking it out if you're interested in trying out a different app for Read Later and long-term storage. #iphone #ipad #mac #apps
If you're on Linux, such as the #SteamDeck or #SteamMachine, and have a #Moza racing wheel, there are two pieces of software you want to get. The first is Boxflat, which allows you to manage much of your wheel configuration. The second is moza-rev (https://github.com/francisdb/moza-rev), which is trickier because you need to install Rust, gcc, cmake, and the standard Linux headers package using pacman, which also means disabling the readonly property of SteamOS. If you're on another Linux distro, it's likely a bit smoother. It's worth the hassle, though, because once built, it runs in the background as a lightweight system service and supports sending tachometer data to the wheel display for a bunch of games! #videogames
After much experimentation, I’ve settled back on News Explorer by @betamagic@mastodon.social for RSS. I love Current, but it did make me realize that I use RSS in a different way than most probably do; I’ll bounce back to it but N.E. is back to my daily driver. Pre-filters allow me to block out stuff I don’t care about, in-app comment fetching works so well for Reddit feeds, and customizable smart filters allow me to slice and dice my feeds into chunks that work well for my brain.
I do wish it would get a Liquid Glass update, if only for some of the niceties that come with that on iPadOS. Overall though it’s fast and top-notch! I run it on my Mac Mini server in server mode, then set my iOS/iPadOS apps to client sync so it’s very fast to update when I’m out and about. Highly recommend it if you’re interested in a traditional #RSS reader but don’t want to get into subscription hell. #apps #iPhone #iPad #mac

Thinking about what the #WinnipegJets could look like next year. I think the team is actually pretty solid, adjustments are needed and they absolutely need to embrace the youth to gain some speed and give their game more bite. Thinking something like:
Connor - Sheifele - Vilardi
Perfetti - ??? - Iafallo
Barron - Lowry - Rosén
Koepke - (Toews?) - Lambert
Morrissey - Salomonsson
Samberg - Pionk
??? - DeMelo
There’s a few gaps that need to be filled. You could probably interchange Iafallo, Rosén, and Lambert to see where the chemistry is. But absolutely need a 2nd line centre, possibly a 4th line centre, and a 3rd pair D. I like Neiderrider and Namestikov, but I don’t think they bring what the team is missing for success next year.
@gametrack@indieapps.space Long-time user of GameTrack here but this one issue is bugging me, still present after the latest update. When using sessions to log gameplay, GameTrack would correctly show the number of hours played and update the game progress appropriately. But it feels like randomly, it will just completely lose all that info.
Here is an example; I re-entered all this info on my iPhone yesterday. The start date of the playthrough is properly set, I set the playthrough to “Extras” for the type, and it correctly summed up the hours of playtime from the sessions and set the progress to 20%. When I opened it this morning, it still says 20%, but the “Played” section of Time To Beat has vanished, and if I tap on progress so has the hours. All the sessions are still there though!
Any advice on fixes or troubleshooting?
