I heard little "ah!" calls mixed in with laser gun noises, and so when I saw that anglerfish-like feather dangling off its face, I was 100% sure it was a quail!

It's always someone else's fault.

Sorry Doug, but no. Canada doesn't manufacture a single EV, and it's partly your fault for not pushing the US owners of Ontarian and Quebecois car factories to invest in EV manufacturing.

And your failure of duty towards Ontarians doesn't mean we in BC get to suffer the consequences of US capitalists' ignorance.

Ontario premier says electric vehicle mandates putting jobs at risk, urges Quebec, B.C. to scrap policies

Premier Doug Ford is calling on the premiers of both Quebec and British Columbia to end all electric vehicle mandates, arguing that the policies are “threatening the livelihoods of tens of thousands of Canadian workers.”

@ashfurrow@tenforward.social I recall having issues with date strings that would sometimes have fractional milliseconds and sometimes not, and the same formatter wouldn't be able to decode both, so I had to have a fallback to handle the opposite case. It's been a long while tho, so details are hazy in my memory.

Replying to
@cabel@social.panic.com that rotating encoder is similar to how teletypewriters worked, but much cruder. The coolest thing about TTYs in my opinion is how the keyboard communicates with the printer electrically, not mechanically, even when using it just as a typewriter, since it's easier to reuse the encoding circuitry than to build a redundant mechanical mechanism. Probably one of the earliest examples of "do it in software instead" in a way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug5lUI-hs3s&list=PL-_93BVApb5-9eQLTCk9xx16RAGEYHH1q&index=2

@tewha@appdot.net I think at best you'll be able to find correlations, but extrapolating those to causation is famously a lot harder. There's essentially an endless amount of correlation analysis methods, but I think just having something that indicates a higher than random correlation might be useful in some cases.
