AI, heavy sarcasm

https://www.sans.org/blog/augmented-analyst-how-ai-reshaping-security-operations-2026

cool, someone finally explains how AI revolutionizes security response.

Ok, magically things will be better, when we use the non-deterministic machine instead of static rules, ayep.

what should you focus your skills on?

  • generalist, because we dont need deep knowledge
  • context (knowing your infrastructure, sure)
  • deep knowledge to check the AI output

and as homework: try out these AI-tools. I wont tell you how, but they are awesome!

cool, cool

@alice@lgbtqia.space on the hand, one can always use a hug. but personally, things are going quite nice, we had a recording session yesterday which I was very anxious about, but in the end we nailed the two songs we wanted to record and even got some nice takes for the optional third one :) having said that, dear reader and alice in particular, feel yourself hugged by some random dude from Germany! You are awesome! 🤌

@wackJackle@norden.social understandable. I wouldnt really want to record (and store) anything, but rather experiment with AR features, like screens and stuff. it should definitely not make anyone uncomfortable, but for me it would probably be fine to use them in confined surroundings, anyway. Interesting point to keep in mind, thanks!

@froge @kkarhan @fj decentralization is something you generally dont want, unless you properly solve it at the protocol level. Thats why matrix sucks and will always be inferior to a centralized solution like signal (unless fixed at protocol level, which most likely wont happen). and yeah, most "competitors" arent really ones, if they think PFS is optional ...

@scalonnec@pouet.chapril.org @fdroidorg@floss.social @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems its a technicality, but I doubt graphene will deploy any upstream change that will close the hardware up, so at least until my phone stops getting support, im fine. not sure what you mean with that last sentence. the solution is actually well known: get a publicly funded hardware stack that offers acceptable security capabilities. I dont see this happening anytime soon, so pixel + graphene is the way to go atm

@dalias@hachyderm.io @wackJackle@norden.social yeah, if the use of smart glasses imply a privacy violation. What if it doesnt? I find the assumption quite irritating. It is quite easy to imagine a use that doesnt touch anyones "privacy" other than "seeing" them. my question is, are people uncomfortable by the mere existence of such glasses? How would a project engage these people and mitigate those worries? or is this something that will never work?

@wackJackle@norden.social out of interest: is the problem that its meta (and the massive privacy problem) or the "smart" glasses by themselves? this would be something, if properly working as free soft/hardware, that I would love to play around with, cutting out all the privacy violating stuff. it its the glasses themselves, can you elaborate?

@dalias@hachyderm.io maybe the choice of words was poor, sorry for that. though what I am doing is asking others who obviously have strong objections and trying to understand what they object to (btw, I am full on your position about the privacy topic). i am talking about a hypothetical implementation that neither stores nor sends any data that would be relevant. Maybe that is technically not possible, but then I wouldnt use It anyway.

@hugo@social.treehouse.systems @Routhinator@tenforward.social then again, valve has only what, 300 people directly employed? (yes, they invest a lot in other projects) it serves as a point that there are companies doing good stuff (quite a lot actually), but its not like they are recruiting heavily. Most importantly, I think the right answer is to build relationships with peers who are themselves interested in doing actual good things.
