@Alice@beige.party The invitation to my 10th HS reunion came in an envelope filled with glitter. The room I opened it in still had glitter in the carpet 7 years later when I moved out. I’ve never been to any of my HS reunions, but would love to know which genius decided this was a good idea.

@briankrebs@infosec.exchange Am I the only one who can't understand why some sites only send the "we've gotten a request to change your email" message to the _NEW_ address?? Just did a bunch of changing of emails and this was surprisingly common. Best procedure used was: ask the old email if you requested a change, then verify the new one, then make the change. Worse, send the message to both emails. But this...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@GuitarSith I was just sprucing up some things from the band I was in in my late teens/early 20s and while I can certainly find room for improvement in execution, I (and one of my band mates, who was a pro musician for decades after) keep being amazed at how creative our young ideas were--stuff I'd never think to do now.

@eyesquash@mastodon.world Sorry to hear man. Had it for the first time last fall (!!!) and it was a bear...months until I felt sorta normal. Hope that part misses you. FWIW, I probably got it from going to see Nine Inch Nails.....totally worth it! :-)

@puffer@beige.party Some of my earliest multitrack recordings were done on a board like this (unpowered and I think 8 ch). Later my band bought it from our friend with the studio and used it for PA. No memory of what happened to it--which is weird because I still have the PA cabs from that setup, over 40 years later. :-) Not 100% sure, but I think the board to it's left is a Yamaha (based on the knobs).

@samvarma@fosstodon.org @ics@sonomu.club Like both of you, I don't have any hands on experience with old germanium fuzzes, but will say that these guys (Crazy Tube Circuits) have a germanium fuzz, the Constellation, that like this thing has takes on the classic ones (Fuzz Face, various Tonebenders, plus a Rangemaster treble booster) and I _LOVE_ it. After decades of trying to make something I like come out of a bunch of Big Muff varietals, the Constellation finally got me a fuzz sound that doesn't disappear in a band.

@TheVinylApe Don't have this as I already had all the source records, but it does look like a good overview. I'd want Forever Now and India and Into You Like A Train and I'd be freaked out by any of the Talk Talk Talk songs going into something other than the next song on that album, but I'm old and stuck in my ways. :-)

@TheVinylApe Funnily enough (given your previous post), the only time I ever saw Divinyls was opening for the Psychedelic Furs (Forever Now tour, '83). Christina was a dervish, more Iggy than her later stage persona.
