Fuck offfffffff kids are human people. They need to be allowed to have privacy. Parents shouldn’t be spying on kids. Everyone deserves privacy and this shit has two outcomes: either it conditions kids to accept surveillance and fascism or it trains them not to trust other adults and not come forward when bad shit happens to them

Earlier this week, Apple began requiring that customers taking advantage of educational discounts in the United States verify their status as a teacher, student, or school staff member through UNiDAYS. The requirement was a major change as Apple had never asked customers to go through a verification process in the United States before, and now, just three days after verification was added, Apple has removed it.

@atpfm@mastodon.social My high school (I graduated less than 5 years ago) had computer labs filled with iMacs. Each one was had its local storage wiped *weekly* (as did the windows machines in other labs). They all used macOS’ built in network accounts and after each reset they took about 2 minutes to re-log in for the “first” time (as opposed to seconds if you’d already logged in). All of our documents and in-app settings were preserved between resets (though iirc downloads and desktop folders were reset). https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/mac-help/mh27627/mac
