#PhantastikPrompts 05.08. Gibt es Themen, die sich durch dein Gesamtwerk wie ein roter Faden hindurchziehen?

Vor #FridaVonHameln waren meine Hauptfiguren oft vergleichsweise jung und dabei, ihren Platz im Leben zu finden. Frida hat das durcheinander geworfen - wobei, auf meine wichtigste Nebenfigur Marek trifft zumindest der Teil mit dem Finden zu.
Und von meiner Warte aus ist er auch noch jung, obwohl seine Zeitgenossen vermutlich ein etwas anderes Verständnis von Alter hatten 😊

I'm currently rereading some books on my ereader, but my newest additions (which I've read by now) were "Verzauberte und Unbesungene" by @Ardeija@literatur.social and "Ruinous Attraction" by @rubyjones@wandering.shop

Recommendation for both of them, although, to be fair, you need to be fluent in German to read the first!

Hast du schon einmal einen real existierenden Menschen zu deiner Hauptfigur gemacht? Wie hat er reagiert?

Nein, und ich glaube, es würde mir auch schwerfallen. Real existierende (und mittlerweile tote) Menschen tauchen in meinen historischen Geschichten als Nebenfiguren auf, und zwar zu hauf, aber niemals als Hauptfigur.

Lebende Menschen würde ich ehrlich gesagt nie zu einer Hauptfigur machen. Das wäre mir viel zu intim.

I'm a writer and the author of several books.
I write stories, thus, I'm a writer. And you can be the author of many things. I'm also the author of the post, btw.

I don't consider myself an artist because, well, my stories aren't that artistic. They're normal stuff. No Pulitzer price waiting for me.

#DieSängerVonThurán waren als 1 Buch geplant. Dass sich 2 weitere anschließen würden...
Aber bei einem bin ich strikt: Ich lasse eine Geschichte erst los, wenn sie auserzählt ist. Ich würde also jetzt keine Fortsetzung mehr schreiben, Jann hat seine Ruhe verdient. Evtl. lasse ich aber Mia bei #Kyznon auftreten.

Well, I do have ideas, but none resonate enough with me at the moment to start writing again. So...
On the other hand, as someone already pointed out, it doesn't have to be *good* ideas. So, I might never die. Huh.

1. Die Frau, die du da gerade beobachtest, muss leben
2. Einmal am Tag musst du zum Mensch werden und essen.
Und das ist alles, was du mit Gewissheit weißt.

Muhahahaha. Nein.
Ich bin die Allmächtige. Sie mögen rebellieren, diskutieren, mich manchmal auch durch ihre Taten überzeugen, aber ich entscheide.

Es sei denn ein Charakter erzählt mir seine Geschichte, so wie Lucie das tat. Da habe ich einfach nur mitgeschrieben 😇

And yes, the cover of Frida might resemble something an AI would puke out - but after all, all AI were trained on real art. Just like i won't give up my n-dash. I'm sticking with it.
I might never hire another Cover artist though - one time of this all out assault was enough. Plain covers it is from now on. I left too many feathers.

Eigentlich nicht.
Aber da gibt es die Tatsache, dass ein kleiner Teil der Menschheit die Fähigkeit erworben hat, sich mehr oder minder gewollt in ein Tier zu verwandeln.
Man schlägt halt nicht so schnell nach einer Stubenfliege, wenn dies Lucille sein könnte, die gerade einen Anfall hatte.
Zumindest tut Nior das nicht.

Nein. Stand heute ist dies eine Welt der Wissenschaft. Wenn Leute an etwas glauben, dann daran, dass ihr Weg zu forschen und zu arbeiten der richtige ist.
Alle übernatürlichen Wesen wurden von den Sonnenstürmen weggebrannt.

Wenn in deiner Welt jemand stirbt: Was geschieht dann mit ihm? Gibt es Rituale, die die Hinterbliebenen absolvieren.

Es gibt Bestattungen und Abschiedsrituale. Bin mir noch uneins, ob es Feuer- oder Erdbestattungen sind.

#ScribesAndMakers 2 May: When you finish a project, do you tend to feel that you have everything just the way you want it, or is it more like 'good enough'?

I know there is always something I can change, make better (or worse), but that is a never-ending story. At some point, I need to let go.
And I guess that is more often the "good enough" than the "oh! it's perfect!" point.

Wechseln deine Protagonisten innerhalb einer Geschichte manchmal auch anlasslos ihre Kleidung? Gibt es so etwas wie Mode?

Lucie aus #VonElfenUndWölfen interessiert sich für Mode, oder besser gesagt, ihr ist Mode bekannt und sie nutzt die verschiedenen Stile.
Ansonsten spielt das bei mir zugegebenermaßen eine untergeordnete Rolle.

No. If I'm not happy, I change it and it's not finished.

Even with regard to book 2 and 3 of my debut trilogy where I now know I reveled way too much in the MCs past - it needs a rework, for sure, but at the time, I loved every scene.

I just grew up some more 😂
And I'll do that rework when "I've got time".

I thought I was close to done, but I had an idea yesterday, might rewrite parts and... well, it depends. It could still get done this months, depending how much I'm starting to vibe with the new way.

What writing-related challenges have you encountered recently?

I seem to have lost my connection to the MC. This story is fighting me. I have now 4 different versions and none pleases me. Plus, I have read the first chapters so many times that I'm getting bored.

Part of me wants to abandon the project, part needs to see it done. So, I'm procrastinating.

Nior is a scientist, but not the type who doesn't care about outer appearance. Her clothes are practical - trousers, shirts, sweaters, practical shoes or boots and warm coats - but they are also clean, fit and match. Mostly, they are light beige or tan because Myrazin once told her he liked the way these colors contrasted with her hair and skin.

I'm about to. Maybe San'chi will not show Nior everything, sensing something isn't quite right with... somebody.

1. Nior must live.

1. Finished my fanfiction piece and uploaded it to archives of our own. Not my best work, and not my own idea, but at least I finished a story again. Yay!

2. Downloaded three stories from great indie authors so that my tbr is filled up again. Double yay!
