Lest I only post about the bad things happening this week, here's a picture of a smirking cat.
I don't know what's she's thinking about, but she's up to something.

mastodon 4.7.3TL/DR I post about our pet chickens & turkeys, the NWSL, and whatever game I happen to be playing.
I grew up all over, spending time in Indonesia, Egypt, Ukraine, and Germany, before settling in the US , where I've spent time living in Florida and California before moving to Iowa.
Our family lives in a farmhouse with a large number of pets, including cats, dog, chickens, turkeys, and a tortoise.
Big fan of women's soccer, especially the NWSL.
I love playing pickleball.

Second coat is on, looking a lot better.
The attorney told me not to move his grill, and instead to post a notice and give him time to move it.
So, that's what I did. 🤷
First coat of primer is on, but it's clearly going to need several layers.
Contacting an attorney now to help with the eviction.
What a week.
Sigh, I guess no more easy bypass of the NY Times subscription crap.
Had some insomnia last night, so I was reading The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, but it's so stressful 😟.

@tiefling@bardicperspiration.club well, I don't know, but I think the book fits well with what you're talking about in your post.
Replying to
@tiefling@bardicperspiration.club it's fiction. It's the story of a woman who saw something that she knows wasn't there. And yet...

@tiefling@bardicperspiration.club I just read a book I think you would like: The Strange Case of Jane O.

My wife and I are playing Age of Wonders 4, about to attack a ruler that's been bugging us the entire game. It took many turns to gather our armies outside their city. This is going to be an epic battle.
Then our cat jumps on her desk and crashes across her keyboard. Somehow my wife is exited out of the game. She logs back on and the battle is over. Apparently the cat selected auto battle.
At least we won 😸
Apparently cowbirds are often monogamous, even though they don't have any real reason for it, since they don't make nests.
She sometimes joins him in the bush so they can yell at the window together.

@MicroSFF@mastodon.art Oh! This was actually the main job of one of the characters in the show Extraordinary. She could summon the dead into herself and they would speak through her, so they could settle legal issues.
It's the chaos scenario, as Nigeria, Zambia, and Malawi all finish on 6 points.
Based on my understanding of the tie breaker rules it's Zambia and Malawi going through, but right now the broadcast is saying Malawi and Nigeria are going through.
The sun was rising, giving the trees an odd yellow green tint, against the dark sky.
Booo. I've been doing so well with the 'return to running' program my doc gave me, but today was no good. I'm up to jogging 15 minutes straight now, and it feels wonderful, but today I was supposed to jog 25 minutes, and it just didn't happen. Maybe it's the heat, maybe it's the humidity, but my joints were unhappy, and my calf felt really thick and swollen, so I decided to walk some of it, and then just called it about 10 minutes in. I don't want to risk re-injury.

Pride month short intro post:
I was born male. Into my 20s, people assumed I was a girl. I famously 'whipped it out' in a store when I was 4 or so, because someone didn't believe I was a boy.
I kissed my first girl at a very early age. I kissed my first boy around 16 or so.
At some point facial hair started to grow in, so now people assume I'm a guy. I suck at shaving. I also suck at picking out skirts.
I married a girl & had kids.

@warandpeas@mastodon.social This sent me down a small rabbit hole of looking into blood temperature and body regulation. From what I can tell blood temperature itself will vary very little, while blood flow and pressure will change with temperature, and blood vessels will widen or contract in heat/cold.
Just me and a hungry giraffe
I had to turn the Chicago Stars game off. Sad for this team.
Holy hell, last week I had $1,000 of unexpected expenses, and next week we have an unplanned $5k expense. I guess we *should* have planned for it, because it's a surgery we knew was coming up, but yikes, the doctors always described it as a 'simple small surgery' so we didn't think we'd have to cover the entire deductible (which somehow also increased this year).
Like, how is anyone staying afloat right now? I'm sure we're not the only ones dealing with this shit?
Ooo, AJR will be at the Iowa State Fair. I bet that'd be a fun concert.
I bought Control on Steam since it was less than $4.
I still haven't even opened Kingdom Come Deliverance II, which I bought last year.
First world backlog problems...
Meanwhile I somehow already have 140 hours on Age of Wonders 4.
It's easy to just leave it open and play a round here or there though.
I'm watching the altcast for the Utah Louisville game, with Kelly O'Hara and Ali Riley, but they don't have the game sound!?
I really thought that was going to be a part of these altcasts. I'm not sure I can watch the game like this 🙁.

@stephaniepixie@fandom.garden it's like that, but they muted the TV, so no crowd noise, whistles, etc, and they keep talking about stories from their past.
I really thought it was going to replace the commentators track, so you get a true alternative.
Replying to
@stephaniepixie@fandom.garden oh totally, but just like with the color commentary in regular broadcasts, I think being able to still hear the game makes a big difference.

@dcdeejay@mastodon.online the first half was OK, with Chicago getting some chances early. Then Naeher went down, and things shifted to NC. The second half was just awful... At least the part I watched.
Ugh, I think I have a stomach ulcer.

Midge Purce's new podcast starts off with a bang!
I don't know anything about flag or tackle football, but Sam Rapoport's story was fascinating. The work she's doing in the NFL seems incredible, and something other leagues can definitely learn from.
Also, while we've heard a million stories about growing up gay at this point, I still feel like her story really touched me.

@tiefling@bardicperspiration.club I don't often read spicy, and comment even less often, unless I feel I really know the author and won't come across weird (probably still come across weird).
FML.
So the renter in our one apartment is apparently having some kind of mental issues, and seems to be having a full psychotic breakdown. He was spray painting in the hallway that's shared with another building (it's a weird setup where an old building was essentially split in half to become 2 buildings), and I'm told he even entered another apartment and was throwing things.
The police took him in, and now I have to figure out how eviction works.

Is anyone here doing AR work with Godot? Specifically for handheld Android/iOS (not HMD).
I feel like it's time to move away from Unity, but I'm not really seeing much about support in Godot.
I wanted to see how the NWSL table looks based on points per game. Going into the break, some teams have played 11 games, some 13.
Sorting by points per game, the Wave drop into 2nd behind the Royals, and the Thorns drop below Spirit and Gotham. Other than that there isn't really any movement.
I thought about looking at last 5 games as well, but with a month break, does momentum mean anything?
Me, watching the first episode of the new season of Ted Lasso: OMG it's Gotham FC!
And sure, they get scored on by Chawinga, but we all know that was just for TV 😜
Gotham has signed another midfielder... cool, cool cool... but, like, how about an outside back? Didn't we just sign another midfielder in O'Sullivan?
