Sightseeing in my own city again. After taking a couple of pictures behind the railing, I said, I should lean over, closer to the surf, for a better picture. We saw the "Monet and Venice" exhibit this morning at the DeYoung museum, which naturally ended with some of Monet's Water Lilies paintings. We left for tea at the Japanese Tea Garden and realized there was a bit of a theme of birds and lilies. Not pictured were the ducks sleeping near the lily pond at the Tea Garden. I didn't want to disturb them. "Let Sleeping Ducks Lie," as they say.

A neighbor called in the middle of the night and let us know that someone going through our garbage set a smoldering fire in our black landfill container. (Probably not intentionally, but using an open flame for light or holding something that's burning while digging through mixed trash is still pretty reckless.) By the time we got dressed and outside, the police were already there, and the fire department showed up shortly afterwards to put out the embers and help to shovel the soppy mess back into the container. The person was detained by police, examined by paramedics, and detained. The house still smells a little like smoke
And here I thought "Please touch your parent's rash and tell me if it feels hot" was going to be the weirdest thing that happened yesterday.

@14mission@sfba.social That would be cool, I'd support Yelamu Street. I could also imagine picking a name that still honors labor/farmworkers such as "Calle de Los Unidos" or "Calle de la Gente" (Unfortunately there is already a small "Pueblo Street" near the Cow Palace or I'd suggest that.)
