They already know they're financially absolutely not worth it, API brings them so much more money. I believe they'll either cut down on the usage plans more and more or just remove subscription-based models entirely, at which point individuals like us will be back at ground zero anyway.

New rabbit version guys: version 0.2.0 brings support for Surge XT installation/updating on standard installations, a more detailed progress view with per-package updates and support for fixing the keymap after updating OSARA so that ReaPack actions stay registered without having to synchronize / re-install everything. @matt@toot.cafe For me personally, my benefit doesn't really outclass the fact that other people right now, and we in the long-run will most likely suffer because of this absurd growth and excessive waste of power, because AI is built on quantity, not quality. I don't think its going away, and I think we will have to get used to it, I just wished it was built more slowly and more thoughtful than it is right now.
In einer Stunde geht es in Richtung Sight City. Ich bin schon etwas aufgeregt ;). Am Freitag bin ich dort auch in einer Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema Bedeutung von KI im Gaming-Kontext zu sehen/hören, falls jemand Interesse und Zeit mitbringt.
New RABBIT version is out, with some more Mac fixes, but this time also a Windows on ARM fix. In addition to that, the updater should work more reliably from now on, providing you with the option to upgrade on RABBIT launch via a dedicated pop-up.

@menelion@dragonscave.space @matt@toot.cafe I wish there would have been a way to keep all of this behind closed doors and just develop it in a secure environment to a point where it is really ready to be shipped and used world-wide without companies having to pump money into it like there is no tomorrow because they fear they're going to be left in the dust if they don't. It feels like development becomes more reckless rather than precise.
Hey blind browser modders, is there actually an accessible way of using Tampermonkey? Last time I checked the extension to load/install/whatever scripts was really annoying to use. Is there a better extension that does accessibility better? Its annoying to develop js scripts to improve website accessibility in an extension that itself isn't quite accessible.

Obviously it isn't as easy, it is an ethical discussion after all. I still don't think that the solution to a systematic problem that is literally human-made is to have everyone and nature pay for it. If we were to fix the impact somehow, that'd be a different story.

I just launched a batteries-included project of beets, the phenominal music manager for nerds. While beets is usually a highly sophisticated tool which needs to be installed into your Python environment via pip, in addition to setting up ffmpeg/gstreamer yourself, indie-beets delivers all of that in a unzip and launch kind of way. Rabbit v0.1.1 is out, with basically just Mac OS fixes. Things like language detection for VoiceOver and the universal binary failure with SWS and ReaPack have been addressed, but also a new try on the open me first command for the app bundle. Give it a try. The update is also available within rabbit itself, I however noticed the workflow isn't quite straight forward, i'm working on it.

Die Update-Information wird in der Statusleiste angezeigt, aber ich habe damals den Dialog noch anders gebaut und der Knopf, um sich selbst zu aktualisieren, ist erst ganz am Ende des Dialogs, das hatte ich vergessen. Ich mache da ab der nächsten Version ein Popup zu Beginn des Setups draus.

@Scott@tweesecake.social I'll start germany only. I'll have to figure out various management and safety things first to not get scammed or lose money/tech thanks to transportation and stuff, and things tend to get alot more complex and risky when its other countries laws you're dealing with.

Looks like, unless I will pay hundred bucks every year to properly sign my app, that is what you'll have to do once when you download the app. Updates will later remember the unlocked gatekeeper though.

Die Idee ist im Prinzip: du willst ein oder mehrere Geräte, suchst dir eine Leihzeit aus (eine Woche, zwei Wochen etc), bekommst es zugeschickt, nutzt es, schickst es zurück, fertig. Ob du es für ein tatsächliches Projekt brauchst, oder du dir Geräte nur mal in deinem Kontext zu Hause anschauen möchtest ist hierbei vollkommen egal. Für wenig Geld kann man so für eigene Projekte auch wirklich hochwertige Technik einsetzen, die einem sonst quasi gepaywalled werden würde.

@FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com @vick21@mastodon.social Ctrl + C might be the close shortcut, oops. There should be a logs within your REAPER resource path, RABBIT/logs/, there should be a json and a txt file. Those would be useful for debugging.

OSARA however has, which might be why it recommends you to update. If possible, try to send me the setup-unix-.txt file of the latest, erroring run from your REAPER resource path/RABBIT/logs for diagnosis. Thank you.

I wouldn't at all be confused if they added this setting for EU only, which is why I expressed it explicitly.

Yesterday we had an Internet outage for a moment, and I was able to experience my fallback mobile connection for the very first time. Well, it worked really well. Internet degraded for a moment when it initially failed, it took the router a few short seconds to fall back to the mobile connection, obviously all open connections got closed and had to be reopened, but the WebEx conference I was in recovered in 2 or 3 seconds and everything went on as expected. Wireguard fixed itself too.
