It's just SO funny that whenever there's some kind of bad news for Google, or something like a class action notice, the email always ends up in my spam folder. Weird huh? Anywho, here's a link to the current Google Assistant class action, which stops accepting claims Aug 27. https://www.googleassistantprivacylitigation.com/home

Tech IS politics. Tim Cook manages a company that rivals small nation's economies. He's one of the most effective politicians of the modern age, and Apple pours money into marketing and lobbying efforts. Apple has tremendous influence over governments, and appeals against regulations.
Apple is a political bully and Tim Cook is a liar.

Sure sure. Sydney Sweeney. But if we're worried about controversy surrounding a sports BETTING app, it's always a good time to remind folks that wherever betting is legalized, we see a correlating rise in intimate partner violence, assault, and fatalities. I kinda autopilot sharing stuff to Threads. I haven't really ever enjoyed using it, but I popped back in to check a few notifications today, and it's such a wasteland. The Facebook algorithm knows I'm a "nerd' and that I produce videos about gadgets, but the ENTIRE FEED they set up was basically the lowest effort engagement or rage bait. Just a never ending list of: "Should I switch to an Android?" "Is this the year I leave and get an iPhone." "Imagine meeting someone in 2026 and they use an ANDROID?!?!" "DAE feel the keyboard on iphone sucks now?" Just over and over and over, with the occasional sprinkling of an actual post from someone I really know. I shouldn't be surprised. It's FB's MO to make people miserable and angry, which for SOME REASON keeps them doom-scrolling social media longer. They actually ran the science on that. I guess I'm just continuously disappointed in how well it works.

@metr0pl3x all good points, and my original comment shouldn't be taken as any kind of open or uncritical view of f-droid, but more in the spirit that Google is looking to police everyone else while they cant seem to get their own house in order. I guess I would question which potential vector for attack has the potential to cause greater harm. Installing from APK's found on sites like f-droid (and others) or installing apps from Google Play? I genuinely dont know, since I cant get legit usage stats from f-droid, but this most recent malware issue on Play clocked over 2 million downloads.
