It wasnt until I heard "privacy is a matter of dignity" that I understood what rubbed me wrong about making it about guilt and innocence.

I am pretty sure the most valid "vibe coding" is just writing your spec as comments in a blank source file, then debugging it until it does what you wrote. No LLM required.

What about long form Mastodon posts? Like ones that exceed the bsky character limit? Mastodon et al can be configured for any character limit, so it's pretty common that my posts get [Read more on...]'d on their Bsky copy.

Ive been tempted to be one of those. I fiddle with 3D printers, but it fascinates me how many different machines out there are just
2+ axes
1+ thingy moving around and doing something
Like, give me a nonproprietary print head that I can put on one on these, the only real difference between a vinyl cutter and an inkjet printer is what it's moving around!
Or like, put some sort of print/sprayhead on a router and make Wikihouse blocks that are preprinted with labels and instructions!
Print and cut patterns on fabric for clothing. Only reason you can't change the width of a printer easily is because they have to be mass manufactured. Otherwise, swap two rods, some cables, change a setting.....maaaybe a little more memory idk.

In high school I loved annoying my French teacher by translating "vous" as "y'all" but it works in both senses - as 2nd person both plural and a more formal singular!

Are there any fediverse apps *do* use liking to change the display order of posts? I'm pretty sure Lemmy does (treating likes as upvotes), I know mastodon doesn't, not sure if any of the forks have a recommendation/visibility system, and no idea about misskey-family instances.
Not that it really matters, I still tend to compulsively boost anything I find cool when I like it, unless it's missing a CW or image alt text or just doesn't feel like something I should publish forward.

@s0@cathode.church My favorite part of this is you can throw the bundle while keeping hold of one end, and it unfurls perfectly.

*maths* It's....uhh....6^4th right? 1 in 1296? 1 in 6 of each of the four remaining dice matching the first (whatever its value)

Realizing how many deserty landscape backdrops are, at their core, just kinda rough horizontal stripes.
(Coz at first glance, I thought it was yellow sky, white horizon, purple rocky landscape, dark midground)

@graue@social.coop This is a great summary of why it feels better here, something I also didn't realize could be different with ostensibly the same interface when I started actively using Mastodon again last April.

@annika@xoxo.zone Are we talking gong fu style in a gaiwan? Because everything I have is only 30-60 sec infusions. But it would be longer if it was steeped "western styls" (essentially all steepings at once).
I used to make pots of pu erh from inexpensive mini tuo cha cakes using a coffee maker....not sure how you'd estimate the steep time on that, it'd be the average time any part of the water takes to hit the tea, run through, then drain into the pot 🤔
