@elisse@mas.to It's not only in crafting, I just saw this post:

Strictly speaking, there's no 'need' for that to exist either, but the little lift of happy that it grants is out of all proportion, and that's reason enough for me. People dictating that creativity should only serve a 'useful' purpose are missing the point (at best) and part of the problem (at worst).

@quixoticgeek@social.v.st I'm actually interested in the furnace! We have some aluminium scrap which we could melt...

@quixoticgeek@social.v.st If you have access to machine tools, you could cast billets and machine them. Perhaps a handlebar bracket like the old Minoura space grip?
Been busy recently, so I've not posted much. I've been reclaiming wood to make CD/DVD shelves, as I'm old-skool and have physical media. Also working on nephew's guitar, so here's a gratuitous picture of a naked fretboard being made:

@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz I'm a cyclist. I'm already powered by cake!
@ionafyfe Truth. See also 'sound professional required, must bring own microphones and RX gear. Unpaid, but will look good on your CV.'

@neotoy@mastodon.social you and me both. A local joiner dropped off a door and frame he'd taken out of a house being renovated. It was meant to be firewood, but it's solid mahogany, including the panels, and there's enough for at least 2 guitars, so Nephew gets one as well. It pains me that so much stuff gets thrown away.
Maintenance day: New decklines, new elastics, skeg's already done, new foam for hip pads arriving soon. I lost so much weight (deliberately) after my treatment that I have no idea whether I can still paddle this bus! This year, I'll be in my own kayak for the first time in ages - usually, I use a Plas Menai boat. We'll see how I get on this time.
