Resident of Scotland. Cares about and for the Environment (esp. the wet bit). Trying not to hate; but deeply offended by right-wing idiotology and the stupidity of Brexit. Je me reste un citoyen Européen. We need a worldview that's wider than money; because living on this planet means we're part of a complex system of relationships that supports all life - not just H. sap.

Also: I have a bus pass and I'm not afraid to use it! (We get them early in Scotland...) 😉

So today, I found several shaggy inkcaps.

They appear to be edible (at least, I'm not dead yet), albeit with a very delicate taste; and they do produce a lot of liquid while cooking.

Probably best in a risotto, I think.
Not really up to the full breakfast thing;

When social media uses AI to prompt questions...

AI bot: "How fast was 92mph in 1926?"

Me: "Probably in the region of 92mph in 2026."

I suppose we could convert to km/h or m/s; but, really..?

Apparently the UK borrowed £18bn in August 2026 - far more than expected, according to financial experts; and we all should be very concerned. This amount is described as being the difference between income and expenditure; so an unauthorised overdraft, perhaps? But: from whom did the UK "borrow" this £18bn? Did the banks have a whip-round? Will the loan have to be repaid at the end of the month? Or are we looking at something else? #MMT

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk It has long seemed to me that if a private business model requires continued support from government in the form of grants, tax exemptions or freedom from regulations in order to be successful or profitable, that business model is flawed. If an enterprise - e.g. the utilities, health care, housing - is frequently assisted by central government in order to maximise revenue or achieve profitability, then that business should be state-owned and state-operated.

@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world I'm not: but given the UK Government's habit of arresting and charging its older citizens for protesting against acts of genocide; while simultaneously allowing bands of black-clad, ski-masked men to block access to major seaports without intervention; well, you can see what's happening over here...

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk "Facilitative of" could be used to enable the development & initial growth of innovative businesses; a "leg up", if you like. Once an enterprise has become viable, it should be encouraged to find alternative support. Large corporations (with a minimal experience of paying appropriate taxes) should not need grant-aid; especially those that are incorporated abroad to circumvent tax liabilities. An area I have difficulty with is food production; there is much for consideration there.

@talia_christine@beige.party Brava. I hope you don't mind; I've shared your comments - with which I wholeheartedly agree - elsewhere, in the hope that the amount of money sucked vampire-like from the world's economies by these leeches is reduced, if only by a little.
