I model real world oil and gas infrastructure to an uncanny level of detail. You then play as a dragon whose job it is to FUCK SHIT UP in exchange for delicious food on the ecopunk farms. It's both grimdark and a cozy game depending on the phase. Fight, eat, sleep and upgrade.
No one can accuse me of condoning terrorism because I only condone DRAGONS.🐉

Most frustrating part of heatwave deaths is how preventable it was, by keeping the oil in the ground or breaking up the urban heat island with trees over the 23 years we've had to prepare.
And lastly, the government could have given a blanket permission to add ropes in-between buildings to create shade in the streets using old upcycled sails, instead of fining people for diving in public fountains.
Every one of these deaths was preventable and can be blamed on the oil industry.

If I were your doctor and I hand you a chart showing the rate of spread of your cancer be 3.5% a year, you'd ask for a cure or how long do you have to live before it takes over the whole organism.
Anyway when a corporation grows any slower than 3.5%, tech investors think that is too slow and punish the stock. The whole organism is the Earth, and anything growing like that becomes a fucking problem in a finite system.
I figured I need to talk more about The Shipyard on this account since some people didn't know about it yet.
I write the dev-logs, manage the server, and draw the drawings for @Niwl@mastodon.gamedev.place , a gamedev cooperative with a team of 4-6 members +5 friends-freelancers.
The game: top down camera, 3d world, turn based. Base upgrades, fleet managmeent, expeditions. Similar to Frostpunk mechanically, but with disco elysium + 20% solarpunk vibes for the art and world.

20% of the co2 stays in the upper layers of the atmosphere for up to 3000 years and there is a whole industry trying to convince private jets users that they can offset that by managing a forest for 10 years.
It's impossible, you cannot guarantee management of a forest over a time period longer than capitalism and all the ancient empires combined. Or that it won't burn in a wildfire and release all of its carbon. Or that the land purchased for the purpose of offsetting can still grow trees.

MacOS is great for work because so few games support metal and proton has limits. There is nothing to do but work.
I had a discussion with a non-techbro artist who said "but what if AI allows you to make the movie you've always dreamed of?" which is a legit question but my answer is that you're not making *your* movie, you're stumbling upon a latent space of everyone else's movies that has already been made.
The whole business model is to make people feel like geniuses, so a pre-digested vector space of content was the perfect dopaminergic threadmill for whales to fund expensive video generation.

I'm looking for recommendations for inexpensive but reliable ARM / fanless small server at the lowest cost possible. The software on it will be debian/ Yunohost (a git forge, nextcloud, some internal docomentation, etc).
Min-specs: 4-8GB RAM.
Budget: Hopefully under $250, or something I can find in the used market.
I was told rasberry pi's are not as reliable, is there better?

BP (British Petroleum) announced they were moving away from oil and into renewables about as many times as the headlines announcing water on Mars.
What was the name of that tool that lets you sculpt on a 3D model but the sculpt is all happening in a displacement channel that gets baked to the normal map in realtime?
Krita, Blender, and Zbrush don't really do that. I'm not talking about just painting the normals, but the ability to actually sculpt, which requires the displacement to normals baking in realtime, or some compositing trick.

Question for selfhosted #forgejo users (and only forgejo users, please):
Have you experienced download speeds for the .zip and or during git clone that are order of magnitude slower than upload speed despite decent hardware and connected via ethernet cable to the network?
Current upload speed on the server side: 4mbps (😂) forgejo user download speed: 64kbps.
What am I doing wrong? I was expecting a loss of speed but not time traveling to 1995.

There are two main differences I would say that makes me call it that and not solarpunk.
-first is that it's more like a prequel to a solarpunk world. Just like today, there is a lot of work left to do and things look often hopeless. The main difference is that I get to draw people winning.
- second, my treatment of technology and spirituality/magic. Times so apocalyptic old gods break the veil and new gods break the fourth wall.
AI is just piracy without the p2p efficency or decentralization or anticapitalism and whole lot more finance layers inbetween people and the stuff they are looking for but can't afford.

The way I understand this is that a new line has been crossed that is more akin to a starting gun firing off somewhere. And all the fascists feel a bit more emboldened that you can be a government supplier and a fascist now. Or that if you are a Japanese or German fascist you now have explicit foreign allies with control of the biggest army.

@alxd The world is ruled by oil corporations who carved out robotized city states around extraction sites. A photojournalist looks for her partner, a writer who disappeared while they were investigating ecological crimes of an oil company.
When she finally gets a photo of the rogue corporate robots killing to make way for exploration drills, no one believes her. She has to venture back into the petrol zone to find out what happened to her friend, and the eldritch plot of the oil corporations.
