Example … JD Vance, a “Catholic” 🙄, would have sent Roman ICE officers to lock up Mary and Joseph as illegal immigrants. He’s a “Catholic” 🫤 for political gain not spiritual gain. As a cradle Catholic these hypocritical personal gain convert Catholics make me sick.

@georgetakei@universeodon.com I believe he believes this but think the SAVE act would disenfranchise just as many GOP voters as DEM voters, especially poor white rural voters that are unlikely to have passports, proper citizenship identification, or live in remote areas best served by mail in voting. The SAVE Act might actually turn Alaska Blue as it would disenfranchise anyone outside larger cities and to urban areas lean bluer.

Wildfires, cataclysmic storms, land laid bare unsuitable for farming. You can make a pretty good argument that fighting climate change is prevention of a biblical apocalyptic.

@MetroReasons@thepit.social Plus no cabs, ride share, or passenger pick up/drop off at the station so even if you’re arriving via Amtrak or Marc you’re stuck walking blocks to get a ride or METRO connection. My daughter, returning to college, had to walk several blocks with luggage rather than a simple connection with the Red Line because Trump and the GOP think a major public transit hub is theirs do to with as they please. This is how royalty treat peasants not how elected public servants act.

@wdlindsy@toad.social I have to wonder if the leadership in the US Catholic Church is waking up to fact that the GOP conservative allies in their anti-abortion crusade are also their biggest adversaries in trying to grow the Church. The GOP is, at best, driving away and, at worse, locking up and deporting parishioners. Some Catholics slowly left the Church that we saw was out of alignment with the teachings of Christ. What has changed now is the GOP is directly attacking the Latino community that is or was the only growing demographic in the US. I am hearing of parishes, in Latino communities, that were vibrant a year ago that now have empty masses because people fear leaving their homes. This is different than a few people leaving because of a disagreement and is hitting the Church in its wallet.
