I get app updates with release notes like this: “Full liquid glass support, including a new app icon with support for icon styles in macOS 26.”

What an astonishing waste of everyone’s time. Apple developers for having to design and implement skins and vapid features; third-party developers for having to adopt them; users for having to deal with the onslaught of marketing and the changing appearance of their interfaces.

And we all suffer for the lack of bugs fixed. You know I still can't choose a spelling correction from the menu and have it actually replace the word it thinks is misspelled?

I am in need of someone to give me a high-level website design for a service I'm developing. I don't need a bunch of web development, just a set of wireframes and design elements (color palette, general shapes and page layout, maybe some icons). Can anyone recommend someone?
TIA!

Because I want to work in metric, but live in the US, many years ago I started work on a little iOS calculator app to make it easy for me to mix-and-match fractional inch and metric calculations. I got it working well enough that I was able to use it, and then it languished for years.

I picked it back up recently, and I'm finally getting close to releasing v1.0. I'd love to get some beta feedback, so if you’re interested, please hit me up for a TestFlight invite.

@DosFox@tech.lgbt Haha all good, I've got too many projects as-is. But this would be a lovely bit of kit to have on the shelf. I like the plexi cover for the PCB.

@mos_8502@studio8502.ca Even 10.15 looked better. But they never should've moved toward iOS as hard as they did. Never should've visually detached window-modal sheets from their window. Never should've disappeared the title bar like they have. And don't get me started on iOS. That peaked long ago. Went waayyy too far away from the awful skeuomorphism.

@mos_8502@studio8502.ca I disagree there. Any language that improves the programmer experience and reduces bugs is a win. I'm all for Swift as Apple's language of choice. And it's not an Apple product per se; it's an open-source project with significant Apple backing. I wish they'd put a small team on improving adoption outside the Apple ecosystem, especially in embedded, because it will become a de facto Apple product if they don't. I use it for server-side development on Linux and I much prefer it to the typical alternatives.

@nemesisprime@iosdev.space Ahhh I figured it out! I was using a StoreKit config file in Xcode that wasn't synced with ASC, which meant it had a different Subscription Group ID than the one in ASC. The code was looking for the Group ID in the file, not ASC. The solution was to delete that file, create a new one and check "Sync this file with an app in App Store Connect," then use the right Group ID when presenting the StoreKit UI.

@nemesisprime@iosdev.space Yeah, it works fine with a StoreKit config file but only for apps installed via Xcode. If I install via TestFlight it wants to use ASC and it can’t find that. The screenshot and review info is for the formal app review, which in trying to avoid. My TestFlight builds get reviewed and approved automatically.

Does anyone know how to get AppStoreConnect to associate a Subscription with a TestFlight build prior to actually submitting the app for review? I can't give my app to testers right now, as it says "Subscription Unavailable" in the app when I display the StoreKit UI.

AppStoreConnect strongly implies you have to submit a version of your app for full review, but I really don't want to do that prior to some testing.

@nemesisprime@iosdev.space I think everything is set up correctly. I even tried logging in as a Sandbox user. The banner that says "(Your first subscription must be submitted with a new app version." implies I need to actually submit my app for full review, but that seems heavy-handed.

@nemesisprime@iosdev.space I also found I had to completely obliterate any simulator instance that had had any kind of subscription before, or it would get errors when running from Xcode trying to purchase. It wasn't enough to Reset Content & Settings; I had to delete the simulator in Xcode and make a new one.

@dxzdb@mastodon.social The grey buttons are for entering fractions like 1-3/4, The orange buttons are operators. I'm open to revisiting the layout, especially since so much is "wasted" on history. I don’t actually know how well it supports dynamic type, I'll have to look at that. Certainly want to make the app as accessible as possible. The importance for me was knowing how close the nearest imperial approximation was, although that idea will be extended to "nearest preferred metric value." But having the actual distance to the nearest preferred neighbor is a good idea. Perhaps a "compact" and "detailed" view you can switch between. Another key feature for me is that all the values be on-screen at the same time; I want to minimize the steps needed to get a sense of what I'm doing. Wanna send me your email for a TestFlight invite?

How is printing in the Apple ecosystem (or probably anywhere) still so frakking terrible, in 2026? You want to print tiny labels from your webapp or even native app? Good luck.

@mos_8502@studio8502.ca I'm not sure I agree with that. I think Swift is a fantastic language, although I wish they'd make improvements to the compiler. I think SwiftUI is much more problematic. Good idea on paper, awful in practice.
