I am a father, grandfather, husband, and geek living in the SF Bay Area.

Am a #cancersurvivor currently navigating the joy of active disease, early detection saves lives. #fuckcancer

Spent a few years being all I could be and am a proud combat #disabled #veteran, Rangers Lead the Way.

Enjoy #hiking, #wine, and a new (to me), #miata.

@alice@lgbtqia.space Before I opened the post I guessed "leap off the counter' was code for 'I ate it before I could give it to Mom' 😀 What kind? Looks like chocolate cake and meringue of some sort?

@evacide@hachyderm.io Another small win, I might be behind in my reading though.. "The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced it will let its surveillance contract with automated license plate reader company (ALPR) Flock expire" https://www.404media.co/lapd-regularly-pulled-over-innocent-people-because-license-plate-readers-flagged-their-cars-as-stolen/

LAPD Regularly Pulled Over Innocent People Because License Plate Readers Flagged Their Cars As Stolen

The Los Angeles Police Department let its Flock contract expire over the weekend in part because it was regularly "investigating" and surveilling innocent people.

@Daojoan@mastodon.social This: And think about them for longer than a TikTok video. And it is OK to read the same book again because you are older, wiser, more open to ideas, whatever, and might learn something new. The number of times I have pulled a book of the shelf, re-read it, and thought "Huh, they changed some of the words." is significant. Spoiler alert - the book has been sitting on my shelf for a decade, the only thing that changed is me.

@ryancheley@mastodon.social First things first - #FuckCancer Second - Lots of your post was familiar Third - Two suggestions I wish I had heard early on - 1/get your tumor(s) biopsied if you go in for surgery. 2/get a ctDNA (circulating DNA), blood test done immediately. Both will tell you if you have any tumor mutations or 'results of unknown significance' (a mutation they are not tracking yet). I have both. This would have altered my approach to my CRC and armed my docs with a lot more info. Then after treatment continue to get ctDNA tests done for a couple years to make sure you really-really got the disease. They are cheap to do and most insurance covers them these days (not so much in 2020 when I was dx-ed for CRC). Happy to share more on my journey and learnings if you are interested.
