@1password@1password.social is funding known racist and all around asshole #DHH's insecure #Linux distro #Omarchy? WTF is this about? I've been a #1Password customer for many years but it's not possible to recommend after this. How about you claw this money back right now and never touch any of his projects again with a ten foot pole? 😡 https://www.alilleybrinker.com/blog/1password-funds-ethnic-cleansing/

1Password Supports the Ethnic Cleansing of Europe — Andrew Lilley Brinker

1Password has committed $300,000 to Omarchy. This is unacceptable and must be rescinded.

@jonny@neuromatch.social There was an old Dave Barry joke from the dot com bust days about investors flocking to websites like SetFireToPilesOfMoney.com but Meta basically is that fr fr

@wdlindsy@toad.social if you are looking for a new instance and open to the idea of joining a co-op I can recommend mine. We are democratically governed and financially self-sustaining through mandatory dues on a sliding scale as low as £1/month. We run mastodon and have a 1000 char limit and have also been experimenting with bonfire social on a separate instance. If a post of any member were removed on here I am sure there would be a good reason and that reason would be provided if you asked the community working group, but we also have a clear and formal code of conduct at https://wiki.social.coop/wiki/Code_of_conduct

@btuftin thanks! I was pretty young when I did this but I think I did a good job researching it. Also, wow I think this is the first time I met another h2g2 editor out in the wild as it were. I like to tell people it was a proto-wikipedia.

@kevin@mastodon.km6g.us @hazelweakly@hachyderm.io @zkat@toot.cat @xyhhx@nso.group @janl@narrativ.es @anildash@me.dm I've been told during code reviews that I should split my build and test steps into separate parallel jobs because it's cleaner... even if that means you wind up building twice. 🤷

@jeneralist@mstdn.science I'm so sorry this happened to everyone on that instance. This is my worst nightmare in terms of what could go wrong with my fedi presence. I hope you can find your people again. I spent a while looking for a good, stable instance with good governance when I settled on my current instance. If anyone is looking for a new home, all are welcome to apply here. We are a democratically governed co-op with elected admins and made solvent though mandatory dues (min £1/month.)

@compost@social.coop This looks like a cool zine, but don't you think it's counterproductive for an organization that clearly cares about the environment to participate in DWeb/Blockchain? Proof-of-work based chains are incredibly harmful to the environment, and I don't think they actually do anything useful that you couldn't do much more energy-efficiently using the traditional web. Personally I will not be boosting anything associated with Blockchain tech at least until they move off of proof-of-work.
