Diesel in Utah is about $1 more than gas which has been the ratio for 25 years or more. Our supply comes mostly from Wyoming.

@ai6yr @anne Back when Dad was doing timber harvest plans, he had to hike the entire harvest area, looking for archeological sites. If a trash dump was less than 50 years old, no problem. Older than 50 years, it had to be protected. As a side note, he also had to identify spotted owl nests. He learned to not locate them precisely because those site would somehow disappear before logging started.

@sarae @ai6yr @anne He was following California timber harvest regulations. When he started doing THP in 1985, a typical plan ran about 10-12 pages. By the time he retired in 2005, a plan for the same acreage was upwards of 50 pages.

Something fun for you fire aficionados today. The volunteer fire department in Santa Claus, Indiana names their apparatus instead of giving them numbers. How did i learn this? Unit Dasher was getting fuel this afternoon at the gas station i was at. The local applied technology college (what California calls a community college) bought this engine for their Fire Academy program for aspiring firefighters.
