@transitionalaspect@fnordon.de @SnowyCA@social.vivaldi.net @deborahh@cosocial.ca I hate those medical reports I see that say: “dictated by Dr. so-and-so, but not reviewed for accuracy or completness.” What good are records under these conditions?

There are little things that tells one that one is "getting old". I am 75 but don't feel a day over 60. But when the receptionist at your dental office refers to you as "My Dear" you know you are getting old.

@deborahh@cosocial.ca I took great care to take very accurate handwritten (and yes, LEGIBLE) records over my 45 year career, and it made everyone’s life easier and safer. I even, at times, employed “I said … “ “She said … “ type records. Every note had the date and time on it. I was sued twice in my career on the strength of the recollection of what a patient thought that I did or said, and neither of these lawsuits got past the point of me submitting my records to the lawyers. The cases against me were dropped immediately. I always taught students that “If it wasn’t documented, it wasn’t said or done. “

@notyourfanboy@kolektiva.social @ChrisJagged@mastodon.social Threats of legal suits just inflame the situation and make it even worse. The staff don’t want people on the ward who are threatening to sue for the care they are receiving or not receiving.

@ChrisJagged@mastodon.social I don’t know where you are, but in Alberta, where I am in Alberta, this happens regularly. It is dangerous. The hospitals don’t give a damn. They are trying to reduce the inpatient load.

@transitionalaspect@fnordon.de @deborahh@cosocial.ca It actually is a drug name. It is what is called a monoclonal antibody. (That’s what the mab means at the end of the word.) Of course the brand name Humira is easier to say.

@SnowyCA@social.vivaldi.net @transitionalaspect@fnordon.de @deborahh@cosocial.ca Well, it is time consuming and is definitely frowned upon these days since electronic health records have become almost ubiquitous. There may be a way to automatically scan handwritten notes into an electronic record, I don’t know. On letters, forms etc, I dictated using language recognition software.

@RantingCanuck@mstdn.ca @LauraleeDukeshire@mstdn.ca There cannot be a broadcaster that has more ads than CBC. The CBC has long ago lost their position in my life as my favourite TV station.
