@nixCraft@mastodon.social My last heavy use of Unix was before the invention of Rust and Python. I've just started looking again, and programming appears to have introduced CSS to everything. How can this be good? C with CSS is almost as bad as Perl regex from here!

@TheLastOfHisName Good. There are several OSs that have chosen to refuse to comply with these laws. Banning their sale in states that enact such spying laws is fine - especially if they're open source. So many people seem to forget that *every* surveillance law like this has led to a central repository of private data that has been hacked. We can just look forward to a growing number of privacy apps that block these verifications!

@shoq@mastodon.social 0 in my case: at home I use a desktop with its big, easily-seen-by-my-older-eyes monitor. When I'm out, I only use the phone for calls or because I need to receive a text. Assuming I remembered to charge it this month.

@octothorpe i remember it taking a long time to get used to its file system and how to work with fast-changing files on a limited disk space. Did a lot of development on that system. Until we moved to Windows. :P

@CStamp The 's' is definitely more 's' like than 'z' like for me. But it changes, depending on who's talking to me; I use both pronounciations (with the 's'). I would guess it might be regional, as well? The one that really gets to me is 'oregano' - in Australia, almost nobody could understand when I pronounced it in my American accent.

@tef While my eyes still allowed it, one of my favorite pieces of paper for folding a crane was the tag on a tea bag. About 2cm on a side. It can be a very relaxing thing to occupy the hands during a long meeting.

@VeridianExpanse It's relatively easy to play, although I had a little trouble getting used to the controls. Couldn't find anything past the hive, however, and hope that's a limit of the demo! I'd play it some more!

@VeridianExpanse No - I couldn't figure out how to make the tool to get the copper. If it was available at the start, then that's a hint I missed. What I *thought* I needed was another one of those things you scan to get new blueprints for the tool. A hint about where to look for one if it *is* what I was missing would be good. Anyway, I'm impressed with how much is working in the game. My own coding has all been embedded, and that kind of graphics bemuses me.

@VeridianExpanse Started over. Now I see what I had missed. I'm much happier, at least!
