PC Mag has curated a list of 'best AI image generators', and lists Grok as 'best for NSFW', apparently in all sincerity. I can't believe this is where we are as a society...

And here are a few other interesting pictures I took on my way to and from the beltline, along the Trolley Trail and the Stone Mountain Trail.

@screwturn@mastodon.social along those lines, most kings and emperors were miserable fools whose compulsive power seeking led to constant paranoia and violence, even towards their their immediate family (and regularly towards cousins).
West-nile virus has been detected in Atlanta mosquitos. News says that cases are increasing early this year across the country (according to CDC but I cannot find source). My recollection is that it normally gets detected in mosquitos around here in late summer. Maybe all this rain has increased mosquito populations.

Everyone tell your kids that Henry David Thoreau invented the term "brain rot" in 1854.
There may be no lineal relationship to the modern use, but Thoreau's "Walden" apparently contains the earliest use of the term, with the same basic meaning as today. And they should know about him.
@zekjur is this a GitHub feature? Or something Debian developers set up? Or something in Git itself?

@lerg in addition to the lack of skill is a lack of attention. They are just rising through and treating a rough draft as good enough.
There's going to be a whole lot of music in Decatur next month... I hope they finish renovating the square without problems (and get the new stage up).

The organizers seem to think that everyone will be taking vacation for the month of the World Cup. Or that Big Boi is enough of a draw to bring visitors out here when they are not at the games.
I'm always happy to have more money in my pocket, but $500 is nothing compared to spending months in a filthy, dangerous jail without being convicted of a crime. Their priority should be getting rid of the backlog in the court system and assuring that every suspect has competent legal services.
The pseudo-libertarian rhetoric is painful.
"“Georgians know best how to spend their money, not the government,”... and yet the government apparently knows who should be locked up without trial.

@moz @davidhmccoy @mark @djwudi It's really sad to encounter older computer-literate people who constantly frustrated by computers just because they can't keep up with the constant UI changes.... even as using these computers is increasingly obligatory in our society.

@anderycks@theatl.social That's good. I haven't read Whitehead's stuff before. That commentary kinda reminds me of the Dave Barry columns I read as a kid, but more pointed.

@2003MugishaPhocit@mastodon.social Hi. I've planted a few native trees (redbud, blackgum, river birch), and other than that have some berry bushes, a small flowerbed and vegetable garden. For the flowerbed, I'm focused more on wildlife than showy flowers, so I spread a seed mix each year. This year I did the 'pollinators' mix from Botanical Interests.
https://www.botanicalinterests.com/products/precious-pollinators-flower-mix-seeds?srsltid=AfmBOopuWkRqaeDW-4rlWYIt77b5dyqiy8U1lLhMKp5jnVxcxsHx5jmO
I get a good mix of insects, birds, and anoles from these mixes, and many flowers will come back next year (from seeds or roots), giving some flowers by April. I've also used the Hummingbird and Butterfly mixes from Botanical Interests. In the future, I may put more effort into finding seed mixes that are better suited for local wildlife, maybe through resources like the Xerces society.

GA District 14 special election (Greene's seat) will go to a runoff in April, with Sean Harris (37%) and Clay Fuller (35%). All together, Harris and two other Democrats got 40% of the vote. An independent and a Libertarian candidate each got 0.25%, and the rest voted for various Republicans.

@boggo I've seen people argue that social media should be a public utility because a federated system can't work...they didn't seem to worry how it would work across jurisdictions.

@sstrader@masto.ai @Daojoan@mastodon.social Thanks for the essay and comment. These make me think of Thoreau, both about aiming for what's important (engagement or mental health), and an example of living an introspective life before Freud.
