@nlowell@indieauthors.social I use semi-colons fairly often, mostly to indicate two sentences are tightly connected to each other, or for a kind of hierarchical comma.

@theonion@bots.defencegeeks.net The Onion promises Infowars will be filled with ads and scams to the rafters.
So, an improvement over when Alex Jones ran it.

@zackwhittaker Supposedly Anthropic is using its own coding tools for much of its programming, so no surprise that its security is shit.

@mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io Afroman is great. But it's depressing this suit wasn't thrown out.
Edit: Afroman won! (Cheering noises) At least the jury did the right thing.

@soundclamp@mastodon.xyz Wow, this is a great read on the intensity of botnet activity constantly trying to break into every computer on the internet.

@farah@beige.party There's all kinds of stuff on Mastodon. Lots of disagreement on politics and AI, two of the issues cited. I don't follow stuff I don't want to see, which pretty much means I don't see it. Occasionally I block when necessary. This isn't "echo chamber", it's quality of life.
I think most of the "echo chamber" posts come from people with flimsy ideas who are upset nobody's interested in what they're peddling.

@nocto@social.lol I really appreciated A City on Mars as well. One of the things I really took away from it is how little thought and research has been done on the nitty-gritty of living off earth. For example, Musk has ranted for years about how he's going to send people to Mars in the near future (before abruptly switching to the Moon) but has never even tried to create a closed-cycle ecology or reliable power source that would be a necessity. The Weinersmiths are great on this.

@pleaseclap@urbanists.social To be technical, the Gros Michel banana whose flavor banana candy mimics is still grown on a few places that have managed to keep out the fungal plague. https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/gros-michel-bananas
I want to taste one someday.

@nazgul@infosec.exchange Absolutely incredible. Both in being able to decipher a burnt lump of ex-scroll and the wealth of info about abcient times we are going to get.

@pzmyers I wouldn't make firm plans for the summer. I had meniscus arthroscopy 3 years ago and while the doctor said it would take 2 weeks to be able to walk normally it actually took 2 months and PT. And I was still a little limited for a few months.
It did eventually get pretty normal, so it was well worth it.
