These two young Galahs were quiet when photographed, resting between feeding visits from their parents, but were usually atrociously noisy. Seen near Bowen, Qld.

Beaut beetle which I noticed flying and which then landed in the grass at my feet. Managed to get some reasonable shots as it moved quite slowly and let me get quite close before flying off. Seen at Glen Erin near Bowen, Qld. Canon R10 and RF100-400 lens. Hand held, natural light. ID-ed on iNaturalist as Rhipicera mystacina.

Little yellow butterfly which I see often up and down the east coast. Usually always moving and quite shy, so hard to photograph. Captured with Canon R10 and RF100-400 lens. Seen in Clairview, Qld. #nature #photography #australia #insects #macro #wildlife

Cory Doctorow -@pluralistic@mamot.fr is red hot again today on the challenges and possibilities of the #fediverse.
Doctorow channels @catvalente@mastodon.world and her essay on how popular social networks of the past have been destroyed: 'Stop Talking to Each Other and Start Buying Things: Three Decades of Survival in the Desert of Social Media'.
A long read, but well worth it.

@fixatedpersonsunit Yes, but isn't that new Apple mother nature ad so wonderful, blah, blah. Such wondrous story-telling, etc. etc.
Actually, it makes me want to VOMIT.

@davewalker@mastodon.social Your excellent work reminds me of another artist / cartoonist who used to have a regular column (many years ago) in the Observer Magazine, I think, called 'the elements of wisdom' - but I can't remember his name... Can anybody else?
