I have heard that in parts of Scandinavia, the response to "how are you?" is "Upright and not crying" and that's about the best answer I can give these days.

When S died, hospital tried to bill me. They got a large piece of my mind scribbled on the bills.
The weather today, rather than being 40F and overcast, as had been predicted mide week, was 52F and brilliantly sunny, so our audience was a bit smaller than we had hoped for, but our concert went well (except for the trumpets and trombones, let's not talk about the damn trombones) and the audience we had enjoyed it. The theme was "In Motion" so all the pieces were at least in part fast and lively. My favorite: "Early Light" by Carolyn Bremer. Why yes, I had an 8-bar solo, why do you ask?

Oh, but some of my biggest holiday memories involve standing there at the big board with other anxious people hoping to get home - or away! - in time for the holiday! It was a bonding experience with all the other strangers huddled there, each helping others to watch for specific changes!

County fairs do not have "Sit on a cow" attractions the way they have "Ride a pony" attractions. I suspect there's not a market for it, because most of us have never expressed the slightest interest in sitting on a cow.

I finished over 100, albeit some were novellas and a couple were children's books. And that's not counting the probably nearly as many DNFs that I slogged through 2-3 chapters of.

@errantscience@mas.to I used to teach "Quantitative Applications Software for Business" (You Will Learn Every Excel Function Whether You Like It Or Not) and the week on charts and graphs was so much fun. I got to tell students that if they used a 3D graph/chart or a radar chart in their homework or test answers, they would get a 0. I made sure to repeat that numerous times. Also, radar charts: don't. Just don't.
Some people still "give something up for Lent." My mom, for example, gives up red meat for all of Lent. If you are doing something similar, this is a reminder that cheese does not raise cholesterol levels the way other full-fat dairy products do, so this is permission to get your protein by putting cheese on *everything*.

Came in a beat early. Held a note into a rest. Whole section came in 2 bars late. You name it. Not saying anybody was perfect, but nobody else made quite so many different kinds of errors...
