Now, we go save the world.
He/him/comrade.
Wests Tigers tragic, terminally Australian. I play games occasionally and sometimes write about things.
Header is a screenshot from Mirror's Edge of Faith looking over the city from a rooftop, avatar was stolen from the internet somewhere and is an animated .gif of the Doof Warrior from Fury Road. As a cat.
Current quote: "There's no hate like former love." - user victrix talking about Ultima 9.
Big ups to #Tuggeranong drivers today - in traffic approaching the roundabout everyone moved to the sides and created a central path for a police car to pass through, German style. Well done everyone, I hope he was on some honourable business.
This may be a bit Trek specific, but aliens will not have unique biology, they'll be slightly oddly shaped humans in different colours.
Despite their technology elsewhere, though, they seem to have made remarkably little progress on women's* clothes.
*Or the alien equivalent thereof.

Seeing security guards at every entrance of shopping centres feels vaguely dystopian.
Jumping into my car (which has fully charged overnight thanks to a battery fuelled by the sun) and driving past middle class suburbia to go to work has made Gibson's quote about the future not being evenly distributed resonate like never before.
Ok, that was hilarious in an office setting.
Ok, this is provisionally cool even if it does use a LLM. As they carefully note, it evaluates how content is written, not whether it's true.
Know what I haven't done in a while?
As always, it's courtesy of Musicolet's shuffle function.

Button Shy moving away from wallets to boxes makes a lot of sense for shelf presence in shops, but it feels like the end of an era. Would Sprawlopolis have the reputation it has if it was a boxed game, I wonder?
I was randomly reminded today of my father's tales of the Six O'Clock Swill, when drunken workers took advantage of different closing times for pubs between Albury and Wodonga years ago to get an extra half hours's drinking in. I Was Told the crash rate along those few miles was horrendous.
I get that there are security concerns, and thirteen years of service is ... decent by modern standards I guess, but Amazon telling owners of functional devices that they are no longer welcome to give them money still feels like wild work.
I need to check how old my Kindle is (not that it matters since apparently there's a doom coming), but it's a lot cheaper to continue to use it and load books from other sources than buy a new one, and if I do replace it it probably won't be from Amazon's ecosystem. Good job there.
Hey #canberra peeps - does anyone know if the NXTBUS SMS service still works, where you text the stop number to 0432131710 and they message back the next few buses that should arrive?
It's still advertised at the stops, but I haven't used it successfully since the last timetable change.
Nice to know a trillion dollar company will soon reach feature parity with a $5 stopwatch:
The now: watching the cinematic masterpiece of Rambo III and wondering why Sly Stallone wasn't in contention for Secretary of War instead of Pete Hegseth.

I love hookers doing hooker stuff.
The hype is real (at Week 5, anyway):
I was reminded that that Wests Tigers centre Namoe Gesa is sponsored by Pro Wrestling Australia, and I'm always amazed by that.
I also think sponsoring a player must be cheaper than I thought it must be, or the money in pro rasslin' is better than I expected.
In Jahream, Jerome and Jevon we trust.
I wonder what all those people who thought Benji was out of his depth have to say now?
Humble Bundle seem to have moved on from their mission statement a bit, but I have to say this collection of Tanith Lee books is very much my jam.
