TFW you get to use a 1950s survey scope to pin azimuth for true north on an incoming Sundial. A bit of fun, this Wild Heerbrug T3 (yes, that's its name) #canada government scope was donated to #yorkuniversity in 1980s, when the original York Sundial still existed. Now we're getting a BIG Sundial and using a bit of the 50s from the 80s to align azimuth. The location is awesomely aligned with @AllanICarswellObservatory for likely obvious reasons 😀 #astronomy #Astrodon #science #sundialsunday

Our crew at the observatory has CAPTURED THE ORION SPACECRAFT... despite the weather in #Toronto #canada ... the low position of #ArtemisII in the sky and having had to take the science ccd off for repairs.

@_elena@mastodon.social I think everyone I follow is #NoAI lol, I went from teaching data sci and physics to teaching how to circumvent/remove #LLMs in data sci and physics... it's tough for the kids trying to learn through this slop 🙃 One thing I think helps a bit is to specify when dragging #LLM_AI vs #DecisionTree_AI #NeuralNet_AI or #Statistical_AI etc. Alot of phys/ data sci here uses #AI as a catchall for all of #datascience including #MachineLearning so it can get confusing (is likely meant to be lol).

@ombialik@mastodon.world libre office here, but same! Some folks do not get spreadsheet training until college, a good list of basics tutorials is a must. Likewise putting 'significant figure reminder' sheets and 'how to command line' in my 3rd year classes 😂

Some I've seen have become properly addicted and it's sad, but no excuse to inflict that nonsense on folks when you're supposed to be trying to build up their critical thinking 🙃
