She doesn't use social media anymore but my dear friend DINAARI just released an album and if you want to hear an amazing chiptune artist, you've got to hear her latest release!

@adelfaure@mastodon.art Purely complimenting the sound design. :) I just love low octave chips
Replying to
@brentpatterson@mastodon.art It might not be a 1:1 comparison but I'm reminded of when artists in the 60s encountered similar things when they took up body painting as a form of expression to prevent collectors from buying up art from trendy artists in order to treat it like investments. Collectors still tried to find ways around it

@taedryn@dice.camp I am worth giving lots and lots of money :)
But yeah I had a friend who is stuck in a loop like that. When I met her nearly 20 years ago she was in a deep depression saying everyone leaves her. Still there but her depression is worse. Not denying she's in a real shitty situation between severe poverty, deep health concerns, and two stalkers threatening her with SA and possibly worse (before anyone asks, cops did not help nor believe her). And I feel awful that I'm losing my empathy

@taedryn@dice.camp I talked with my spouse and they had a similar friendship with someone who just couldn't stop putting herself down and also had some legitimate horrible health concerns, outright antagonistic family and no aid except friends who she eventually drove away. Fatigue can be a real thing with empathy

@feff Any chance it was Battle of the Bits? It's still ongoing and there's lot of music that COULD fit onto a floppy since they encourage participants to upload the tracker file before converting to MP3 in a lot of cases
