mastodon 4.7.3Your favorite trans-femme tomboy, multi-nerd, and big ol' gay mess. I do too many things, but now most of them involve being trans and rocking that. Some of the nerdery: Python programmer, embedded firmware/hardware, cellist, photographer, writer, aviatrix, builder of airplanes. Egg cracked hard on Feb 28, 2022; HRT on April Fool's Day 2022, a good day for my joke on the universe.
Currently migrating to @taedryn@anarres.family, come find me there for more hijinks!
This picture is going to be printed in history books as a turning-point for transgender people in the US. The open question is, which direction will the turn be in?
I don't know, and I don't have ideas for what I can do, but we are on the cusp of big, scary changes that will affect everyone, not just trans people, not just minorities.
If you were waiting for a call to action, here it is. They just banned her from the MT House using the rules of decorum. What better metaphor for where we are?
Dear society: you could just drop "sir" and "ma'am" and other gendered terms from your public service patter. Literally no one would know it wasn't there, and you'd save so much grief in the world.
"Thanks, have a good day!" has the same weight and impact as "Thanks, have a good day, sir!" No one would know. You could make this change right now, and save the sanity of so many people, trans and cis alike.
Me: Ugh, they misgendered me the whole time.
Cis friend: They did?
Me: Yeah, it's just so frustrating, what about me says male?
CF: Well, I'm sure they...
Me: I'm wearing a dress and an embroidered straw sunhat, I have long hair, and I have visible boobs! What about that says male?
CF: ...
This is not allyship.
Dear fucking god, don't take their side.
Dear friends, if you repeatedly tell me how unlovable you are, I will, over time, come to believe it's true. That's the magic and the horror of propaganda and lies. Over time, with enough repetition, they become truth.
The corollary of this is, if you tell me how lovable you are, I will also come to believe that's true.
Tell the lie the benefits you, not the one that harms you. Eventually, it stops being a lie, either way.
Sometimes ya gotta dress like grunge is still a thing. CW for eye contact.
For today's #TDoV I'm gonna state the obvious: I'm a transgender woman! Have been my whole life, but (and this is important) I didn't realize it until very recently.
I spent the first ~50 years of my life quite convinced I had to be a cis man.
It hasn't been an easy journey. There are still many challenges ahead. But my life is so much more now than it was before I came out to myself.
Now you'll have to excuse me, but it's flying weather, and I need to get into the air. 😁
Oh shit, I just realized, on the occasion of my second traniversary, that trans years are worth more than cis years (sort of like dogs are 7:1 in dog years) for me. But for the opposite reason: I've done so much more living in the last two years, it feels like it's been a lot more. 4? 6? 8? Something like that.
My only nod to April fools day is that I started HRT on April 1st, 2 years ago, because I thought it was funny. Slapping that first patch on April 1st felt entirely appropriate, my little joke on the universe. I wish I'd known I just missed TDoV (I literally waited until just after midnight, because I was impatient), but I don't regret my choice. It hardly matters, after all, I was already fully trans before I applied that patch, it was just the start of good things going ever better.
I finally figured out what my jeans front pockets are good for. CW for eye contact.
You know that "I'm bored" rhythmic tapping people do with their fingers? One finger after the other so you get these rapid almost-singular percussive sounds?
Do you lead with your pinkie finger, or your index finger? (Or, some other finger?)
Doin' some exciting Hard Science on the Fediverse today 😁
Given the existence of "breasting boobily," we can infer the existence of boobing breastily. If we further suppose that bottom surgery may be considered a kind of extreme penis bob, we come to the following conclusion:
If I breast boobily
While you boob breastily
And at least one of us has had bottom surgery
And we come together for an embrace
While wearing a bib
Then we can be said to have discovered Bibbity Bobbity Breastily Boobily.
Do I know anyone who could provide a rec for a vtuber avatar creator? I have a friend who wants to get an avatar so she can start telling her story without compromising her identity (and it's a hell of a story).
