@soatok maybe throw in a little misdirection like "This LLM will generate images" but what it instead actually does is refuse to generate any images, and tells them they should hire and pay a real artist.

"You were training AI while catching Pokemon"

Its a pretty clever idea masked as a AR game to collect this much data from people taking photos or scanning objects in the real-world.

The second thing that should also be addressed is crash handling of applications. Often when an application crashes there is no user feedback as to what happened when nothing shows up on the users screen after clicking on it to launch the application. What should happen instead is have a Crash Log window popup showing all the same information as if you ran it inside Terminal. Print out what happened in the backend to the Crash Log window. This would make it easier for people to identify why their application couldn't run with this little bit of user feedback and be able to copy that output or save it to a text file should they need to report their issue they're having.

@janellecshane@wandering.shop The most common types of malware will of course be info stealers. Whats worse some of these code audits are now being done by AI by some developers who can't even go through their own code to see if everything checks out okay and doesn't contain malicious code, Microsoft has recently integrated this in to GitHub with Copilot to check code for malicious intent and security vulnerabilities. Quite recently Microsoft ran AI to find flaws in Linux bootloaders https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/microsoft-uses-ai-to-find-flaws-in-grub2-u-boot-barebox-bootloaders/

@parismarx Obviously these companies are using AI for nefarious reasons, but this doesn't inherently mean all AI is bad. What we have here is a bad actor abusing AI with a model that's been specifically designed to be biased and deny any and all claims, all to penny pinch those who signed up to their insurance policy and to avoid having to pay out any claims to their clients. It's just fraud.

With the recent discovery of the CopyFail exploit on Linux, someone made a little demo of the exploit to show how it works, and how to test on your system if your kernel has patches applied to fix this exploit.

Copy Fail — 732 Bytes to Root
Xint

Copy Fail — 732 Bytes to Root

CVE-2026-31431. 100% Reliable Linux LPE — no race, no per-distro offsets, page-cache write that bypasses on-disk file-integrity tools and crosses containers. Found by Xint Code.

@starsider@valenciapa.ws No that's not the same thing. There's no context menu for running something with sudo from the context menu, what you're talking about is what file mangers already give you that for opening files and folders, but not for running applications that require sudo. Applications like KDE Partition Manager asks you for a password on opening it by default because it executes pkexec when launching the application, but this doesn't apply to other applications that require elevated permissions in order to run. But not all applications that require sudo use this when they require it.

@xssfox@cloudisland.nz the problem with implementing such ordinance is who decides when those scheduled 2-week paid stay-at-home happen, and would it overlap with other regular vacation days off you might have otherwise had anyway. Because I can see some business trying to exploit that to under pay their employees somehow.
