https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/08/21/there-is-no-best-interface/ I would rather have 1 presentable, well designed interface than 7 half-assed ones, even if the one does not fully follow my vision.

There Is No "Best" Interface, Only the Right Fit - TDF Community Blog

It has become a commonplace to describe the Microsoft 365 Ribbon as the finest office interface available — the most polished to look at and the most ergonomic to use. The claim is repeated so often that it tends to pass unexamined. It deserves examining, because hidden inside it is an assumption that quietly does most of the work: the idea that there exists a single best interface at all. A competent design — for one kind of user Let us begin by granting what is true. The Ribbon is a capable pi

Reworked Bazaar's search overview provider into a separate little service that does not need the full main application, and so it only takes ~20 MB of ram to work. The service also auto exits after a few seconds, as restarting it is pretty quick & cheap. (except when it needs to live for auto-updates of course.) #GNOME #Bazaar

I saw the GNOME GSoC post about the native uninstallation support feature and tried to hack it into my "Bazaar Companion" extension. #GNOME #Bazaar

I think it would be nice to have a portal to install a GNOME Extension (from ego). It would allow developers to put most of the code in the app, making the extension smaller and thus more maintainable, easier to review, and the shell less buggy.

@bragefuglseth@sunny.garden Talking about how apps look on other DEs, I don't like how Adwaita apps follow the set icon theme. It causes ugly mismatches or even straight up missing icons if you use basically any "custom" icon. I had to force load the Adwaita icon theme in Bazaar to not ship a broken experience on KDE. But this sadly also has the side effect of changing the window control icons.

I can now drink beer in the USA, but I don't drink alcohol and have absolutely no interest in going there...

Replying to

@tragivictoria@mastodon.com.pl Why? Most people who "report" issues just want to get help with their problem and don't want to create a GNOME Gitlab account just for that.
