i used to think content warnings were the best way for #mastodon users to protect themselves from concerning content (which could be anything, #politics, #bigotry, horror media, etc)

but @Yehuda@turtleisland.social made the case that #filters and adjusting the settings are the best way to do this, and it really has changed how i use mastodon 👍. if you want to do the same for yourself, i suggest going to yehudas profile and looking at the guide he posted that shows how to do this

i'd also like to say that before, i used to be dubious of making lists, but ive changed my mind on that and now have a few lists curated around interests of mine. this helps on days when i'd rather focus on things like art and memes instead of news and politics, and i hope it helps others too 🫂

please boost!

its once again time for my annual tradition of asking the #fediverse questions about aging :ms_thinking:

im about to turn 30 this month and i wanna know:

1. where you were before you turned 30 years old

2. who was in your life at that time? are you still in contact with them?

3. what did you accomplish in your 20s and what were you hoping to accomplish in your 30s?

4. any regrets up until that point?

5. and finally any advice for someone about to enter their 3rd decade lol

today is #MayDay ❌️ 💵 but it's also #BandcampFriday 🎶 so here are my recs:

@socool@ravenation.club (chill, ambient)

@powderpaint@glitch.social (dance, pop)

@arendleejessurun@musicians.today (folk, indie)

edit: a word

"The truth, says Distribute Aid’s Taylor Fairbank, is that all organizing that runs counter to the interests of the powerful, digital or physical, carries a threat of surveillance and its consequences.

But Fairbank also says that those considerations shouldn’t prevent people from acting.

'Look at the risk in context, make informed choices, try to be as safe as possible. But, my God, go out there and help people. Because we need it.'"

Citrosis from Telethon

https://telethonband.bandcamp.com/album/citrosis

12 track album

need a recommendation for this #BandcampFriday ? i found out about telethon years ago when i was browsing bandcamp, and "grease" was the first song i ever heard from them

"citrosis" is a great #PopPunk album, with lyrics that are both vulnerable and sarcastic, coupled with amazing production that transports me to my angsty teen years
