Greetings, Mastodon! I’m Akira, a multidisciplinary designer, UX/UI designer, 3D artist, and engineer. I’ll be sharing my UX case studies, 3D experiments, sketches, illustrations, creative projects, and design thoughts here. I’m still learning, experimenting, and figuring things out as I go. This is a place to document that journey, one project at a time. Still learning. Still experimenting. Still making. Let’s see where this goes. #Introduction #Design #UXDesign #3DArt

Opting out of ad tracking : The least user friendly menu I've seen! #Orange , the french #ISP offers you a free #TV box with your internet plan! The catch? Of course, it's filled with #ads . I mean, it's free, you're the product etc, so I get it but I still go to the settings to disable targetted ads, which is on by default OF COURSE, but there's a nifty "Deny all" (Tout refuser) button! But after clicking it, it does NOT disable everything, as most of their advertising partners are set to "Mixed consent" (where "Legitimate interest" data is still on!). That's not confusing at all! So to disable them, you have to go one by one on each of their partners, scroll down, enable and disable the tracking checkbox to disable it. Peak example of unfriendly #uxdesign ! Multiply that with the ~100 partners they have, and I spent a solid 15 minutes just scrolling through menus to disable #tracking . At least I guess you CAN do it if you're motivated enough? @privacy@lemmy.world @technologie #privacy

Share buttons are a design habit, not a strategy. This piece looks at actual data on whether people click them, and the numbers are not kind. If you’ve been adding social sharing widgets without questioning them, stop and read this first. https://ankursethi.com/blog/nobody-clicks-your-share-buttons/ #uxdesign #webdesign #productdesign (https://uxbrad.com/activity/20260701/171500/)

Much of AI "productivity gains" come from managers implicitly trusting an LLM to do a good job, and suspending the onerous micromanagement that humans employees get subjected to. You can do that without paying Anthropic a single penny. It just requires letting the experts you hired do their jobs. https://productpicnic.beehiiv.com/p/trust-is-not-built-on-craft-alone #LLM #AI #tech #UXDesign #UX #SoftwareDevelopment #USerresearch

Your company is a MACHINE for turning MEETINGS into REPORTS. Too bad no one reads those reports. You also have dashboards, which one might skim before doing what they were gonna do anyway. Tech orgs have all the data in the world, but have lost the ability to read it, understand it, or act on it. https://productpicnic.beehiiv.com/p/the-illiterate-organization #UXDesign #tech #software

@tezoatlipoca@mas.to your reasons are sound from the UX standpoint, but the solution can use some work. As part of the development team, if you agree to something and then sneakily do something else, you’ll will get yourself and the rest of the team in trouble. I suggest that you point out the issue using relevant sources (you may not be in charge of UX) and negotiate that the suggestion can be carried out as a refactor or quick fix. #ux #uxdesign #agile

@girlonthenet@mastodon.social online and in real life, there’s this tendency to think that every surface available can/should be used for advertising or to distract the people using the service. The attention economy has this insidious influence over the rest of society. Users will not have space for their own thoughts, or use their senses as they see fit without interference. #UX #uxdesign
