“Con le vittorie di quest’anno, Sinner ha dimostrato di essere il più forte in questo momento”. Parole al miele per il campione italiano quelle sua maestà Roger Federer, che in un’intervista di presentazione della Laver Cup – torneo tennistico da lui stesso organizzato – alla Gazzetta dello Sport, ha avuto modo di parlare dei migliori tennisti del mondo e dei loro punti di forza.
E se Sinner è il più forte sul campo, per Re Roger è Alcaraz “il più geniale“. Addirittura la quantità di colpi a disposizione dello spagnolo talvolta possono diventare quasi un problema per lui: “a volte ha persino troppe possibilità e può finire per perdersi un po’ dentro tutte quelle opzioni”. E poi c’è Zverev, numero 3 del mondo e vincitore quest’anno di due Slam, sui quali, forse, c’è lo zampino dello stesso Federer: “Da tempo gli dicevo che avrebbe dovuto colpire la palla più forte da fondo e finalmente lo sta facendo” ha dichiarato il campione svizzero.
Ma la Laver Cup è un’occasione per vedere anche una serie di giovani talenti che occuperanno le parti alte dei tabelloni dei grandi tornei di tennis per i prossimi anni: “Non avevo mai visto giocare dal vivo Jódar o Learner Tien e mi hanno impressionato molto – spiega Federer – sono molto forti e hanno il potenziale per lasciare il segno. Qui possono sperimentare un’atmosfera simile a quella di un torneo dello Slam, con i capitani, la pressione, i compagni che li osservano. Spero gli sia utile”.
