“[UK] TORIES TOOK £1.3 MILLION FROM FIRM LINKED TO ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS” by Martin Williams and Dania Akkad in Declassified UK @uk_politics@UKLabour@mastodon.cloud@thegreenparty@palestine@fedibird.com @Palestine@masto.ai@palestine@lemmy.ml @palestinenews@gts.liberated.press “The Conservative Party took £1.3m in donations from a business linked to the destruction of Palestinian villages – before opposing new sanctions on Israeli settlements last month.” [..] “Peter Frankental, Amnesty International UK’s economic affairs director, said: ‘JCB’s products have been used in the demolition of Palestinian homes and the expansion of illegal settlements. That makes them part of the machinery of ethnic cleansing and apartheid – and that cannot be ignored.’” https://www.declassifieduk.org/tories-took-1-3-million-from-firm-linked-to-israeli-settlements/ #Press #SocialMedia #Journalism #JCB #Bamford #Donations #Tories #Badenoch #Gaza #PalestinianGenocide #Zionism #SettlerColonialism #Resistance #EradicateZionism #DecolonizePalestine #GlobaliseTheIntifada #Israel

🙏 Please, I’m begging you — don’t ignore me. I am a mother of four children in Gaza, and we are struggling to survive. My children need food and basic necessities, and I cannot do this alone. Even €1 can make a difference. If you can donate, please donate. If you cannot, please reblog so someone who can help may see us. ❤️‍🩹 🔗 https://chuffed.org/project/178829 #Gaza #Palestine #FreePalestine #HelpGaza #GazaAid #GazaFundraiser #PalestineFundraiser #Donate #Donations #HumanitarianAid🙏🙏#mutualaidrequestsomeone who can contribute. Hey, fedi. What smaller non-profits do you recommend for donations?

Some beautiful people have been tipping me for my articles and my accessibility app. That gives me the warm fuzzies.

But I’m going to donate those tips, because other folks need them more. And I’m going to replace my tips links with non-profit donation links.

My current list:

1. Sogorea Te’ Land Trust
2. Audre Lorde Project
3. Equal Justice Initiative
4. STEM Like a Girl

Who are your faves?

I'm also thinking of a subscription model for MakerTube like Spectra is discussing it. Price increase at Hetzner's is hitting us quite hard (roughly +30%) and I don't know how to cover costs for future storage increase. Sadly I must say that the donation based approach has its limits. A good portion of the costs are covered by early adopters even though we see a constant growth in the user base. Wdyt? #peertube #makertube #finance #donations #hetzner #hosting #costs

TIL that I've actually created a few "high impact" packages on NPM (with 1+ million downloads per week)... Just got this email from them (see screenshot) If each one of these would just pay me $0.001, I could actually comfortably dedicate myself full time to these projects (which has been my long, long dream job). But the system and social contract around open source is completely broken and so I've to balance my time and try to sustain myself and my family via other ways for periods of time... and because of that I'm losing existing sponsors, a great vicious circle... If you want to support my work and 26+ year track record of building, sharing, teaching and maintaining hundreds of open source libraries for a huge variety of use cases (another downfall, since most other projects are much more narrow in scope), please reach out and/or visit: https://codeberg.org/thi.ng/umbrella/ (monorepo of 200+ current main projects) https://thi.ng/ (aging website, but more overview & timeline visualizations) How to financially support my work: https://codeberg.org/thi.ng/umbrella/src/branch/develop/CONTRIBUTING.md#donations Sponsoring/donations can be done via: Liberapay, Stripe, GitHub Sponsors or Patreon Thank you for your consideration (and support for those!!!) ❤️🙏 #OpenSource #Fundraising #Donations #TypeScript #JavaScript #NPM

As a SWer-led organization, visibility is one of our biggest challenges.

If you're unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser with your network makes a tremendous difference. THANK YOU for standing with CORAS. ❤️
