The kittens being weirdos again

I was told at work today that when doing public speaking I "present really well for an engineer."
....thanks? Happy to hop over that particular low bar.
The mass transit strategy around the Seattle metro area seems to be "Let's not build too much transit, otherwise people will get addicted to it and demand more. Let's just build as little as we can get away with, as a treat."
RE: @TheNeedling@newsie.social
Can we let Hellcat Guy drive his car around just in this neighborhood?
It's interesting to me that NYC is encouraging people to tag the mayor in to service requests to fix potholes, etc. In Seattle we the "Find It, Fix It" app to file service requests with the city. It's not as fun and fast as going viral with a pothole fix, but it does work.
Finally gave in and bought the new game Iron Nest. It's a (very) heavy artillery simulator set in an alternate history post WWI world. Did the first two missions, had fun and didn't get motion sick. I see the neurodivergents on the subreddits have already made their own firing tables so they don't have to rely on the ingame elevation calculation machine, lol. Also there's a cat in the game.
Between high prices, shitty ownership, and use of AI to create code and art, I may never buy a AAA video game again. I'll just play Factorio and Vintage Story forever. I'm definitely never giving a dime to EA or Ubisoft ever again.
I just realized I'm approaching Back To The Future Age: the age of 1985 George and Lorraine, and 2015 Marty.
@MaryAustinBooks@mstdn.social On a smaller scale, in my industry (HVAC) I kept hearing about how Connected Devices and Data Lakes will solve all sorts of problems but no one could ever articulate how they would solve any problems or create anything of value. It was always:
- Connect everything and collect tons of data
- ??????
- Profit!!!!!
