I interrupted his #caturday nap

@foolishowl@social.coop I've been against answering the phone (or door) if I'm not expecting anyone since I was a kid, but I have recently had the same thought about emails, texts, and even internet replies. They used to all be enjoyable. Now very few are.

I'm genuinely fascinated that hardly any of the many thinkpieces about the younger generations drinking less alcohol seem to consider legal weed at all. Yes, it's also about money, but come on now.

I've done #3GoodThings in my journal and on #FinchApp for about three years on and off, but tend to start just listing the cat and some food I made or ate every day, so I'm going to try to post here sometimes and see if it helps.

1. Did a long photo session for a client's cookbook and I'm actually pretty happy with the results so far.

2. I'm reading my first physical book in years, probably. I prefer the ease and storage of my Kindle but have lost interest in 'buying' digital media. (Re-reading my own Vonnegut paperback.)

3. The cat* has become a straw thief, which is frustrating but also hilarious.

'You play as a student of a magic university...' Could we please, for the love of magic, put witches back in toadstool-laden bogs? Decrepit woodland cottages? Ominous stone circles? That shuttered and overgrown house at the end of the street? Anywhere but English boarding schools.

What is the most innocuous topic you block? Something completely and utterly unproblematic that you just simply don't wish to see? On every platform, I end up blocking every mention and misspelling of a street artist from my previous city in Michigan because for some reason seeing people in Europe fawn over something I used to see every day walking to work just IRKS me in a way I cannot explain. They are a perfectly fine artist. Good for them. But I can't stand it.

@Richard_Littler@mastodon.social I'm currently reading God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater for the first time since my 20s (in the 2000s) and I knew it was still relevant back then, but it's amazing/depressing how relevant it still is today.
