@doctormo@floss.social Really glad that Inkscape has an AI policy, I'm surprised the backlash ended up with website/social media attacks... attacking an open source project seems pretty low... On the plus side, the updates sound really exciting. The constrain node to path, text on path changes, being able to see when you're in a group/layer, and CMYK obviously all sound amazing.

As someone who learned Adobe during a Diploma in 2022, the idea that Adobe used to have a friendly marketing team that did interviews with developers is somewhat unbelievable. The teachers would talk up Adobe as industry standard but behind the scenes, we're all dreading the prospect of the high fees and looking for alternatives.

@CmykStudent I've made some 1bit art before, I wouldn't mind a 1-bit mode! I think a lot of illustrators making images in black and white wouldn't mind either. In Photoshop they call this Bitmap mode. It would actually be a very helpful feature, I think a lot of people would appreciate it! I've been using https://powrss.com/ lately but there are more like it out there. Usually searching for the term "RSS" on the homepage or a blog post or article of a site you're interested in usually helps find them. On sites like YouTube it's hidden in the page source (annoyingly).

@Marconius@mas.to I want try this app at some point but I am disappointed to see a generated icon. I can make a proper one for you if you like. I know UEB grade 2 which would be more than enough for this. So you know, the genAI icon has some visual irregularities like the braille dots are not a regular size and it says "gdg" whereas I think something like "abc" would suit the purpose of the app well enough. Also there's this weird noise grain and other little things that make it obvious it's genAI.

@brianmerchant@mastodon.social I remember watching the original video where Miyazaki discusses his disabled friend. It stuck with me because genAI and AI that implicitly or explicitly devalues human work is inherently capitalist and does not see the contributions of disabled people (or artists) as valuable. By using generative AI people are participating in and accelerating the devaluation of not only the lives and work of others, but their own.
