We were out today activating POTA site IE-0228 from the National Botanic Gardens.
It was a lovely Sunday radio outing, and as far as we know it was the first ever POTA activation from the Botanic Gardens.
Thanks to Daniel McDowell EI8ICB and @tdr112@chaos.social EI7IRB for taking part, and thanks as well to South Dublin Radio Club for their net.
Portable radio, fresh air, and a few nice contacts along the way. Hard to complain about that.

One of our TOG members is bringing a bit of Irish maker energy to Germany today 🇮🇪🇩🇪
@tdr112@chaos.social is at FabLab Chemnitz for Open European Lab Day, running a hands-on Hidden Colors workshop.
Participants will be exploring light, polarisation and the secret colours hiding in everyday materials like plastics and tape. It is exactly the kind of playful science and making we love to see travelling between hackerspaces.

We’re heading out for another Parks on the Air activation on Easter Monday, 6 April from Ticknock Forest, Dublin.
We’ll be operating as EI0TOG, with @tdr112@chaos.social EI7IRB leading the activation. You’re very welcome to join us in person, or listen out and give us a call on the bands.
It’s open to the wider TOG community and the public, and if radio is not your thing, Ticknock is still a lovely spot for a walk.

A great Bunkers On The Air activation near Shannon Airport with help from EI7IRB, EI2LH, EI4LF, EI8ICB #BOTA #amateurradio
A nice bit of homebrew radio testing in the space last night.
Daniel EI8ICB was trying out a home-made 4m antenna and made a QSO with EI3IXB, David Gardiner from South Dublin Radio Club.
Always great to see something built by hand getting on air.
TOG Hackerspace is at Dublin Comic Con for the next two days. We’ve brought along interactive projects, homemade gadgets, glowing builds and plenty of things to catch your eye. Drop by the stand and say hello if you’d like to learn more about making, hacking, electronics or cosplay tech.

Our radio club was out this morning on Bull Island doing a #POTA activation. We had two HF stations set up and some 2M. We had @tdr112@chaos.social (EI7IRB) on the club call sign(EI0TOG) and @schrodinger@mastodon.ie on (EI9JYB). Thanks to all on the South Dublin radio club net and 2 M IRTS news for chatting with us and our SWLs
Our next repair café is today!
And coincidentally, our open social happens after!

And stick around for our open social. Crossing all our fingers and toes the weather holds for some outdoor pizza oven fun (otherwise we have an indoor kitchen...)
See you later!
Tomato seeds from our February Seed and Plant Swap are already starting to sprout 🌱🍅
We’ve got the first seedlings from Gardeners Delight and Harzfeuer.
Our next Seed and Plant Swap is on Saturday 21st March — a great chance to swap seeds, plants, cuttings and growing tips with others.
