re LB: we really are only safe with each other now i honestly don't see how i'm ever going to feel safe coming out in this country. i mean i hope that Ciara has the legal representation, funds and nous to seek an urgent appointment in Strasbourg over what is, by any objective standard, a colossal miscarriage of justice. i can't imagine the position that trans people are deceiving by default will fly for a second in the face of article 8. but that will basically convince all the fuckwit terfs in the country to back Reform in their efforts to abolish human rights altogether. (and then, of course, we can expect a shrill chorus of shock at the face-eating leopards eating *their* faces) what we do need, though, is for other countries to see that every trans person who is sexually active in this country is in danger of being sent to prison unless they can prove they disclosed (and even then, subject to a judge or jury deciding they didn't do it in the right way). and start acknowledging that trans folk are the subject of legal and political persecution in the UK, and granting asylum accordingly.
