It's been a long time since I had #coreboot 'd a laptop! Thanks to the awesome
folks from the Skulls project, I was able to free my #thinkpad X230 BIOS, replacing the
network card and eventually having a functional system for #trisquellinux , including working WiFi!
A #raspberrypi running #Alpine #Linux was used for the flashing of the two memory chips.
Feels good to have a fully #libre machine!

Today and tomorrow is #EmacsConf, and my short presentation about using #org mode notes being exported to academic publications will be the first one to be streamed.
It's a bit scary but I'm also really excited to take part of it!
Kudos to @sacha@social.sachachua.com for the great job at organizing the whole thing!

With a perfectly good Linux install, why go with a proprietary web browser? I don’t mean to be judgmental or pedantic, it’s a genuine question. I’m interested to know your reasoning.
@mms@mastodon.bsd.cafe I’m tangling the inventory for my home lab Ansible setup from the README.org of the repository, but currently the tasks are not. I’m thinking of creating a org notes for each Task dir and tangling the main.yaml from there…
@Aktieviking@toot.community If you have the hardware you should go for it! As other people said, the operation itself is not that difficult but here are some issues I had:
-
The connection between the chip and the SOIC clip can be a problem. You might need to move it and retry a lot until the SPI is connected cleanly.
-
If you go with a Raspberry Pi, you should be careful to use the official PSU, since you want to be sure to have a clean 3.3V on the VCC pin.
Cheers!
