@kernellogger that essentially means, however, that LTS kernels are not to be used at all, unless one tests normal releases regularly in addition to that. that seems rather odd to me.

@SchwarzeLocke i beg to differ. i was thinking about companies that use stable kernels exactly to avoid chasing regressions and security patches all the time because it's not their main business. if those kernels are used on long-living products (yeah, those still exist) the hardware will definitely be older than 10 years (rather 20-30). and those machines still need to get updates (CRA)

@catsalad@infosec.exchange teams in a browser is bearable. at least compared to pretty much everything else from m$. i personally would have replaced the bottom tiers with "windows", "anything from faamg", "proprietary software".

@docjosiahboone@wien.rocks ich verstehe den standpunkt, aber bei der anden-variante fehlt wohl nicht sooo viel an mutationen, dass es schirch (=parndemie mit weit ärgeren folgen als bei COVID) werden könnte und man sieht an den übertragungswegen bei diesem ausbruch, dass "enger kontakt" jetzt nicht unbedingt schmusen beinhalten muss. und der umgang mit dem ausbruch zeugt, was ich so vernehme, auch nicht unbedingt von verbesserter preparedness. eine abstrakte sorge ist da nicht vollkommen abstrus IMHO.
