@matthew @thesaigoneer I used GNOME 2 until 2010 or 2011. I have some extremely vague memory of using a wonky python program during my last week or two on that platform that incorporated kb control and window tiling into it. Then I switched to Awesome WM and never left or looked back. MATE is still my favorite normal DE

I do often put on “TV” in bed, which is really my desktop computer + a remote, but my brain registers it as a more passive medium at that point. There’s no temptation to open a browser and scroll a feed or anything

@lw “AI psychosis” is like TDS, a real thing but it has pro and anti variants and it’s often the pot calling the kettle black. A lot of Bluesky people have the anti version for some reason.
On a linux mailing list I’m on someone asked for help and added a “Here’s what AI said about it” section to their notes, like you couldn’t find a more reasonable application and use case than that, and people still freaked out and piled on them. Same story with that one guy on every LUG list who keeps postponing his Rust presentation
