@aj I like this:
"a place to have conversations online without algorithms, AI, and ads getting in the way."
Can I use it as a tagline on piefed.social?

@dorian@retro.social I based my choice of OS and desktop environment entirely around this. Plus window borders that are wide enough to grab.
Not kidding.
LXQt, if anyone is interested. Out of the box it's just as bad as KDE but it comes with a selection of retro themes that restore the UI glory of yore in a way that I couldn't quite get right in KDE.

Nice to see #Mastodon copying PieFed's geographical-based instance choosing mechanism.

@praxeology@post.lurk.org If you weren't using that open source model-t ford right now, I wouldn't have read your message.
Everyone's gotta contribute wherever they're best able to.

@deadsuperhero @etp @tchambers Wordpress needs to serve it's content with a Vary: Accept HTTP header so that caches (like cloudflare) know to serve a different page when browsers request it vs when ActivityPub servers request it.
I wrestled with this on PieFed a lot.

@SOOKIE@tech.lgbt You can give Claude some massive useless task ("make app go faster"), then go to lunch, come back and git checkout to get rid of the mess. That'll keep your metrics good.

@django@social.coop Yeah. It's hard going because Lemmy users don't have an 'AI content' checkbox so they can't comply.
But a 'contains AI content' checkbox on communities that only have AI content auto-flags every post in that community as being AI content which does 90% of the work.

@madsenandersc @juliette Yes only 20% but some oil usage cannot be reduced, such as ambulances, or trucks going to supermarkets or rural workers commuting (as you said). So if those users are going to continue at 100% usage then other people are going to have to make much much bigger cuts than 20%.
Meanwhile everyone (and every country) wants to be one of those using 100% so there will be hoarding and export restrictions and so on which make it worse and unevenly distributed.

@baldur@toot.cafe Hmmm if anything the graphs show a *decrease* in new github projects and a flat amount of Steam new releases (breaking the previous upward trend) and much less Android apps.
Could it be AI is causing more projects to fail?

@aurynn @seldo @janl The code is at https://github.com/seldo/zeitgeist
It does not set a user agent when doing a fetch() so it'll just be the default that node has which is probably node-fetch.

@dichotomiker Definitely not. The solution is upstream, at the nginx and cdn level.
I've mitigated it for now but I wouldn't be surprised if they come up with another strategy which gets around what I've done.

@thisismissem@hachyderm.io I am very interested in adopting this, for PieFed.
But when I look at the docs and every page says "This section of the documentation is still being written" it gives me pause.

@django@social.coop Yes but it is only allowed as long as the 'AI content' checkbox is ticked: https://piefed.social/c/piefed_meta/p/1523426/labelling-or-hiding-ai-generated-content
Ticking that hides the post from everyone unless the viewer chose to allow AI content.
Anyone who only posts AI content gets banned.
