So... don't follow me. It's just too much pressure. I abhor absolutes. In school, teachers would say "never" and I took it literally. But they didn't mean never, they meant mostly never and would chide or punish for not inferring their actual meaning.
I'm that guy.
Nuance, I learned, was vital to true communication of ideas and those who left it out weren't interested in teaching but obedience.
Tribalism follows the same form. I want better than that.
@dhfabian@mstdn.social @QasimRashid@mastodon.social "Hang Mike Pence" while in body armor and breaking into the building doesn't come off a little insurrectiony?
Where is the line? You actually have to successfully hang him?
@drahardja@sfba.social Ah, the never ending quest to make company leaders internalize negative externalities.
I'm less worried about SpaceX (under the jurisdictions of FCC, NASA, USSF with considerable expertise) and more worried about other nation mega-constellations. In this case, I believe our best bet is to lead by example (eg set stringent internal regs).
The skies should belong to all humans & if multiple mega-constellations can't co-exist then Starlink may need to be regulated as a public utility.
That upside down S is total madness! Why would they do that?
@gnometsunami@mastodon.social @popcornreel@mas.to Respectfully, that's just not the case. Prohibitions on poll taxes, for example. The feds can set and have set certain standards for federal elections and the court has previously ruled the states cannot make up their own eligibility requirements for Congress, for example.
You can imagine how started might abuse the ability to disqualify candidates -- look at how they gerrymander.
I'm thinking of a writing experiment. It's really tough right now and I am reminded of friends lost, both those who have left this world and those who don't wish to associate with me. I miss them but I can't really blame them, at least not too terribly much.
Was I there for them in their hours of need?
And yet I can feel it weighing upon me.
