There's a messy reality out there, and one of those messy realities is that passing a rule/law/whatever that is largely unenforceable waters down faith in and then obedience of rules/laws/whatever.
Sometimes you just have to accept the "good enough" over the perfect. I'm comfortable with the LO's policy.

How do you propose to enforce a blanket, pure, no-AI policy, however? Will you demand video of the contributor typing the code?
I share your concern about AI slop damaging cognition and, especially in the hands of the inexpert, slipping in seriously damaging code. I also share your copyright concerns.
But HOW DO YOU INTEND TO ENFORCE SUCH A RULING!?
